About the role

Join our dynamic RBC Applicative Software team as Software Technical Lead, where you'll play an essential role in developing the RBC (Radio Block Center)—a safety-critical embedded system that continuously supervises train positions and authorizes safe train movements via radio communication.

You will contribute to software components that are pivotal to our success in the railway sector. This role offers a strong mix of technical leadership and coordination within an experienced, collaborative team.

 

Your key responsibilities

Technical leadership & software delivery

By joining a multidisciplinary, multicultural, and international team (Sw team located in Charleroi and Bangalore), your role as Software Technical Lead will be to lead and organize activities and teams dedicated to:

  • Take part in the development of software specifications and architectures based on needs expressed by rail experts
  • Develop and maintain software components (detailed design, coding, code reviews and testing)
  • Perform integration and functional testing of these components in the final products, using physical and digital test platforms
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes, methods, and tools
  • Stay up to date with technological developments in the field

 

Coordination & interfaces

You act as a key interface between the software team, program management, and other teams.

  • Coordinate software development activities within your scope
  • Contribute to planning, progress tracking, and QCD commitments
  • Participate in software change management (CCB)
  • Identify and escalate risks impacting delivery or quality

Quality, safety & continuous improvement

You ensure compliance while contributing to long-term improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with railway standards (EN 50716)
  • Contribute to software plans
  • Participate in software design reviews and team dynamics
  • Contribute to standardisation, reuse and continuous improvement initiatives

 

What we are looking for

Education

  • Master’s degree or engineering degree (BAC +5) in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecom, Automation, Electricity, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a similar technical field is mandatory.

Experience & technical background

  • > 5 years of experience in real-time embedded software development
  • Solid experience in development for complex systems
  • Proven exposure to railway or other safety-critical environments
  • Experience in technical leadership or coordination roles
  • Fluent in English and French

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of railway safety standards (EN 50128 / EN 50716)
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
