Purpose of the Job

Develop and deliver a product (composed of Hardware and Software sub-developments) in line with the definition of the technical answer to the need expressed by project/customer needs.

Be in charge of the overall QCD of the product development : Quality, Costs (both recurrent and not recurrent), development lead time and product performances (with safety demonstration, if needed)

 

Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Propose and specify product specifications aligned with project/customer needs and requirements ensuring safety & quality, application competitiveness, customer orientation and innovation.
  • Provide QCD estimation on Bids and projects requests.
  • Be Work Package Owner of Product Development WP (QCD commitment).
  • Define the engineering management plans for product development (by customizing and completing internal templates if any).
  • Manage, control and execute timely developments for internal and external (buy) activities in compliance with the approved QCD commitments.
  • Operationally manage the Hardware and Software resources allocated to the development, provide leadership and ensure that the teams fulfil efficiently its duties, including projects/customer technical support.
  • Organize and lead the Hardware & Software design, CAD & definition file activities, prototypes realization and qualification/type tests.
  • Ensure global technical coordination and arbitrate design choice.
  • Organize the Product, Hardware and Software Design / Phase Reviews.
  • Develop design to cost approach in developments to decrease unit cost of solutions.
  • Develop design for maintainability approach in developments to improve the product maintainability, reduce the life cycle cost and prevent short terms obsolescence issues.
  • Develop design for reliability approach in developments to improve the product availability and reduce the life cycle cost.
  • Alert the reporting structure for any event that could impact product development QCD commitments
  • Manage requirements : ensure the traceability of the product requirements (from product level down to software and hardware level) and ensure that each product requirement has been addressed by V&V through the whole development cycle.
  • Manage the Product configuration, change Management and deliveries : establish and maintain the configuration baselines.
  • Ensure the technical coordination with the Industrial team to prepare (collaboration to the test needs and strategy definition) and manage the manufacturing phase.

 

Educational Requirements

Engineering graduate (bac+ 4 or bac +5) in embedded systems or electronics.

 

Desired Knowledge / Experience

  • Interests in railways product engineering.
  • Experience, from 5 to 10 years, in railways, telecom, aerospace or military design coordination.

  • Good general technical background especially on real time embedded system including hardware and software skills ;
  • Computer literate.

 

Job Location / Mobility Requirements

The job will be located in Charleroi with occasional short duration travels abroad.
