Context

Belgium Development Center is in charge of developing Railways Signalling systems, mainly ERTMS, which are then deployed on projects all around the world.

In Belgium, more than 250 people work for the DC and, from other Alstom site, more than 300 people contribute to the activities.

 

Overview of the job

Key role in the DC Leadership Team, in charge of

  • Defining/reviewing and implementing processes and tools to improve the performance of the Development Center
    • Collaborating with the other members of the DC Leadership Team (e.g. the Program Managers, the Department Heads, …)
    • Collaborating with the Global Planning team to improve the related processes and tools
    • Collaborating with the Finance team to improve the related processes and tools
  • Participating to the overall DC improvement plan

 

Role and responsibilities

  • Ensure the follow-up of all KPIs associated to the performance of the Development Center. If needed, adapt the KPIs to be more relevant.
  • Run the process in place to collect the workload from the various programs and check the coherence with the staffing capacity on a monthly basis. If needed, adapt the process in place to be more efficient.
  • Animate the Development Center Monthly Review
  • In collaboration with the Finance and with the Global Planning teams, support the planning and finance control of the programs proposing and implementing processes and tools to ease the program management
  • Propose improvements actions to improve the overall performance of the Development Center
  • Support the DC Director with the definition and follow up of the improvement plan

 

Network and reporting

  • Direct report to the DC Director
  • Key member of the DC Leadership Team
  • Link with the Finance team (both local and central) and with the Global Planning team (both local and central)
  • Link with the other sites to align the inter-site data and to share good practices

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • General skills:
    • leadership,
    • good internal and external communication
    • process-oriented, data-oriented and pragmatic
    • capability to step back and understand complex data driven processes
    • capability to step back and evaluate whether results from complex analytics are in line with expectations or not (macro analytics)
  • Technical skills:
    • Management of complex Excel file (data base like) with formulas and pivot table, etc
    • Management of export/import file to interface tools from various processes
    • VBA and equivalent language is an asset
    • Knowledge of data analytics tools is an asset
