JOB DESCRIPTION – Project System Design Engineer

By joining a multidisciplinary, multicultural, and international team, your mission as Project System Design Engineer will be to ensure the system design activities of a specific technical solution, based on, and adapted from a generic Alstom designed solution, which will fit the client’s project needs in terms of Quality, Cost and Delivery. Under the supervision of your System Design Leader, and together with the other member of the design team, your action will be to analyze the input needs (external or internal), define and allocate requirements, ensure the traceability, define the system and sub-systems architecture, functions and interfaces, and integrate your solution in the laboratory. All this in a complex and normative environment, specific to embedded systems (and sub-systems) deployment projects.

As a Project System Design Engineer, you will:

  • Analyze, clarify and confirm input requirements and needs,
  • Formalize and maintain the system and sub-system specifications (Requirement specification, Interface and Architecture documents),
  • Ensure traceability through-out the formal documentation, up to the input requirements,
  • Partner with RAM, safety, sub-system, cybersecurity, software, product, and V&V teams to develop design concepts, to ensure specifications completeness and acceptance,
  • Call, conduct, and participate to technical reviews (design reviews, document reviews),
  • Interact with other System Engineers and with other métier engineers to ensure the design fits into the intended architecture,
  • Interact with external suppliers,
  • Configure the equipment delivered from Generic Development Center in order to meet the project needs,
  • Configure Test bench, integrate and Test the solution in lab (at design level),
  • Participate eventually to investigations on trains when required,
  • Participate to System tests (Track-On-board) of the complete solution within the infrastructure,
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (Return on Experience, process…),
  • Ensure that the system follows standardization approach by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions, or generic solutions and by providing an efficient system deployment kit (tools, user documentation…),

For instance, as a member of our team and in a near future, you may have the opportunity take part to important signaling trainborne projects for a European national railway company!

To be successful in this function, you will certainly have to initiate and maintain regular and constructive relationships with numerous internal (Complete Engineering Project team, teams on other Alstom sites,…) and external (customers, suppliers, partners,…) stakeholders.
