Job Title EN-FR-01: Software lead Engineer
Purpose of the Job:
He/she manages Software Development resources and activities on the project assigned.
He/she is responsible for the delivery of each software baseline according to the QCD requirements.
He/She is responsible of SDE-MPU activities

Network & Links: Train Control Engineer /Sub-System Engineer (SSE)/ Verification & Validation Leader

Performance Measurement/KPI’s
Quality of his delivery (included sub-contractor delivery): 1st time quality rate > 90% (quality rate = modification validated OK / number of applied modification)
Respect of the delivery planning (included sub-contractor delivery): 100% on time delivery
Level of application of standard Methodologies and Processes: 100%
Continuous improvement or Return on Experience (RoE) management from previous projects: 0 missing RoE
Responsibilities
Accountable for :
Applying the standard processes and related methodologies and tools in order to ensure his/her Domain efficiency within projects development
Defining, developing and sharing re-usable “design patterns” in his/her domain
Promoting continuous improvement initiatives in his/her team
Managing the traceability and configuration of tools used by his/her team
Supporting Tenders on some costing issues
Supporting Projects on some technical or process issues
Delivery of Train Software according to his / her Engineering Work Package.
Deployment and application of Train Control & Information Solutions development procedures, processes & design rules on his / her project.
Ensuring proper management and traceability of the hardware and software configuration - including design tools - (producing the release notes).
Ensure that the content of the baselines, of the release or delivery notes and of the Software Reference versions identifications are in conformity with the release.
Maintaining and Controlling KPIs for the project and reporting to S/W Domain Leader. Accountable for Software Validation
Responsible for :
Assigning the resources (staff, tools, …) for executing Projects engineering WP of his/her Domain
Managing the workload, including the sub-contracted part (technical assistance or work-package)
Contributing to the sub-contracting strategy in liaise with Sourcing
Evaluating performance and setting objectives of his/her team
Defining the training plan appropriate to his/her team’s needs and Alstom strategy
Networking with other sites to share workload, Return on Experience and Technology topics
Proposing to the Site TC&IS Manager the investments for HW & SW necessary to ensure the deliveries on projects conducted by the Site.
Managing his/her Domain by using regularly updated KPIs related to his/her Domain
Keeping be informed of the QCD of Projects his/her team contributes to, in order to propose improvements, if necessary
Initiating and following up action plans to solve issues common across projects and/or improve results in projects
Managing and sharing the RoE of his/her activities with Central TC&IS
Proposing improvements on his/her Domain process and tools defined by Central team.
Monitoring, Controlling and consolidating the software development work-package.
As such Organizes, leads the work package reviews for the project he/she is in charge, Manages the Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan, Reports the target to project Train Control work package owner.
Integration of Software Modules with various modules within TCMS subsystem like MPU, DDU etc & in-charge of Configuration management for TCMS Software activities.
Ensuring the overall performance of executable code loaded on target, for the project that he / she is leading.
Initiating and following-up with action plans to solve issues and/or improve results in projects.
Establishing and sharing Return on Experience of his/her activities with Domain Leader and proposing improvements on Software Development process and tools defined by Domain Leader.
Integration of software modules with various modules within TCMS subsystem like DDU, MPU etc.
Contributing to the Generation of Quality Plan.
Managing Sub-contractors.
He/she is member of CCB meetings.
Job Specifications
Knowledge & Experience
Hands-on development experience of software phases like requirement gathering, software development, hardware-software integration etc (minimum of 2 years’ experience in Railway or Automotive domain).
Experience in leading complete product life-cycle of at least 2 projects (minimum of 2 years’ experience).
Experience in developing software using based model development tools like Matlab / Simulink, Control Build etc.
Good Working level Knowledge of network protocols like MVB, Ethernet, CAN, RS232, RS 485.
Managing work packages for sub-contractors.
Team size
Functional reports: he/she manages about 5 persons
Depending on the project size, his/her scope of accountability represents a workload of up to 15 full time equivalents
