In your role as a Regulatory Compliance & Safety Specialist, you will:
- Collaborate with Alstom projects to ensure compliance with Federal drug & alcohol testing requirements across North America, namely 49 CFR Parts 40, 219 (FRA) and 655 (FTA).
- Manage and provide support to regulated projects to remain compliant with regulations.
- Provide regulatory updates and manage compliance for any changes in North American regulations, and advise the management team accordingly.
- Audit & Review to provide recommendations on Alstom's compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide support to product line safety initiatives. Strategize to effectively implement company processes across all projects.
- Audit and support projects to improve environmental, health and safety KPI’s.
- Support projects and tenders by providing regulatory guidance, safety audits and review of project deliverables, such as design specifications, project plans, and other technical documentation, as needed.
- Provide training to Alstom staff on drug and alcohol compliance requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in transportation, engineering, or related field. Master's degree level is preferred.
- Subject matter expertise in 49 CFR Parts 40, 219 (FRA) and 675 (FTA).
- Experience in North American railway regulation, agencies, or equivalent field (several years of experience preferred).
- Rail Safety related experience and certifications (TSSP and/or PTSCTP) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of federal and state regulatory environment, including experience with the Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Transport Canada, and other regional and local authorities.
- Knowledge of rail transportation operations, technology, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Training skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
