PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of trains through regular maintenance and prompt fault resolution. This role involves both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, requiring a strong technical background and adherence to safety standards.
  • Responsible to service, maintain, perform warranty repairs rolling stock at customer site in order to ensure their availability.
  • As part of the maintenance team, they will ensure Alstom trains are serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.

 

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

Key accountabilities:

  • Maintenance
    • Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Team Leaders and Maintenance Management Team in order to:-
      • Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance activities and address any arising issues to maintain train reliability.
      • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identify and analyze faults, supporting the development of corrective actions to resolve technical problems efficiently.
      • Testing and Verification: Conduct tests and verifications to ensure that maintenance and repairs meet quality and safety standards.
      • Resource Coordination: Coordinate the availability of tools, special equipment, and spare parts necessary for maintenance tasks.
      • Adhere to and work within Quality Systems to the current applicable standards.
      • Work as part of a team, complete or assist in any of the team's activities to ensure work is completed on time to specification.
      • Understand and follow work instructions maintenance procedures, Standard Operating Sheets and Task Sequencing.
      • Apply Special Processes.
      • Carry out Fleet check activities
      • Ensure good information flow about interventions & operations within Troubleshooting to support shift transition, if needed
      • Recommends preventative and corrective actions
      • Contribute to Return of Experience
      • Support operation helpdesk
      • Use work related IT Systems as required to record progress of operations and status of issues.
  • Reporting
    • Accurately report status of operations, complete Work Checklists and Work Orders with the required level of detail including completion time.
    • Report any deformities found during maintenance and accurately complete maintenance checklists, registering any configuration changes.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Make suggestions and recommendations for productivity improvements working with the team leaders and maintenance Team.
    • Maintain 5S good housekeeping of all related work areas in accordance with set standards.
  • Training/Agility
    • Be capable of accepting training in other skills and carry out duties, e.g. forklift, road vehicle driving (if certified), attend call-outs and breakdowns if required.
    • Be capable of being re-trained in other activities/skills as required by the Maintenance Management Team in order to support the Operations as required.
  • EHS
    • Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices compliant with local standards.
    • Comply with all EHS protection and AZDP measures.

 

Performance measurements:

  • Completion of maintenance tasks according to schedule with the required quality
  • Achievement of contractual availability (milestone) targets
  • Accurate reporting of Operations Progress, spent time
  • Characterization of K1S/K2/K3 issues on time (considering K1S – safety relevant issue, K2 – issue causing major passenger service disruption, K3 – issue having impact on service availability and product reliability)
  • Availability of configuration update data
  • Audit results (internal and external)
  • Customer satisfaction of technical expertise
  • Compliance with EHS rules and work-related processes

 

MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Diploma in electrical or mechanical maintenance.
  • Minimum IT knowledge
  • Internal EHS training
  • Railway and Rolling Stock knowledge
  • Good knowledge of English language (read, written, spoken)

Desirable:

  • Dual skilled (mechanical and electrical)

Experience

Mandatory:

  • Experience of working to procedures, work instructions and vehicle maintenance instructions
  • Pneumatic and electrical schematic diagrams understanding
  • Knowledge, and practical experience of train maintenance
  • Experience of mentoring and instructing other team members 
  • Technical skills in fault finding, reading schematic diagrams, work to technical instructions
  • EHS knowledge and exposure
  • Product knowledge

Desirable:

  • At least 5 years in the railway industry, with specific experience in rolling stock maintenance considered a plus.
  • Engineering knowledge

Competencies & Skills

  • Available to work at night, during weekends and on public holidays
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to read technical drawings, and a solid understanding of maintenance principles.
