Job responsibilities:

Leadership & supervision:

  • Manage the RS & DEQ maintenance unit
  • Ensure adequacy of skill and competency of RS & DEQ staff with respect to safety, quality and technical issues
  • Handle all people related issues with regards to internal staff – leave, training, safety and IR issues
  • Monitor activities of internal staff accordingly and ensure long term business objectives are met
  • Attend to disciplinary issues utilizing correct procedures and policies in conjunction with HR
  • Manage injury on duty process and follow correct procedures
  • Ensure performance management and Performance Appraisals are conducted regularly

 

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

  • Manage safety systems and processes
  • Manage quality systems and processes together with QA
  • Conduct accident/safety investigations

 

Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Establish asset condition and address gap by amending the maintenance plan accordingly
  • Draw up priorities according to maintenance plan including priorities of network, amount of internal resources, outsourced resources and amount of money available
  • Conduct resource balancing
  • Manage maintenance plan and budget accordingly
  • Manage spares inventory
  • Create job plan in accordance to the maintenance plan
  • Raise and manage works orders (planned and unplanned)
  • Review workloads and assign appropriate staff to complete the preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and inspections of the subsystems under Alstom scope of work in a timely fashion
  • Manage maintenance execution activities following the technical instructions, maintenance manuals and technical documentation provided by the manufacturer.
  • Monitor and manage performance targets against the penalty regime
  • Establish day to day/monthly plan and ensure proper and timely execution thereof

 

Incident management including investigation and restoration

  • Investigate any incident/breakdowns and establish causes
  • Restore incident back to normality in shortest possible time by implementing a plan
  • Mobilization  and organizing resources such as manpower, material and finances
  • Supervise execution of repairs
  • Implement prevention actions to avoid repeat incidents

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in engineering
     

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Rolling Stock & Depot Equipment
  • Maintenance production
  • Team management
  • Change management
  • Safety management.
  • Advance technical knowledge
  • EAM such Maximo/ GIS
     

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 10 yearsrelevant experience in Railway industry in particular in maintenance
  • Spent at minimum 8 years in the Rolling Stock maintenance environment.
  • Have an experience in the change management culture
