Overview:

The Interlocking (IXL) is a system composed by Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electric, Electronic and Software components having the aim to ensure safe movements of trains.

The purpose of the job is to take part to the execution of IXL application design activities of a Signaling project, adopt the Alstom application design process and ensure the delivery accordingly to the projects schedule and quality commitments.

Interacts with other project stakeholders and collects the needed input to execute the activities and provide output of the activities accordingly to project rules and templates.

Share with Project IXL design leader the progress of the activities executed, the issues and share the potential improvement that can be applied on the process and tools with the tools product team.

 

Specific responsibilities of the role:

  • Design of modification of existing relay based interlockings owned by CFR in Romania in the context of project to be executed by Alstom with the target to ensure provisory works of the railway stations while migrating to the IXL computer based interlockings;
  • Work in cooperation with Installation team and Testing & Commissioning team to ensure the implementation, testing and put in service of the provisory configuration of the relay based interlockings;  
  • Design scheme plan layouts, Control Tables, HW configuration drawings, cable core plans, signaling equipment Rooms layout, diagnostic application data;
  • Ensure the application and adherence to the reference application design process, methods & tools, requesting in cooperation with the Project IXL design leader deviations whenever appropriate;
  • Participate actively to the IXL detailed design review meetings and provide activity progress reports;
  • Organize and produce documental, HW design deliveries accordingly to the project templates and needs;

 

Experience

Mandatory:

  • Deep knowledge of legacy relay based IXL in Romanian railway contexts and capability to read and interprete relay schemes, and to design modifications of the same, with the target to implement provisory works to ensure partial railway services while migrating to new computer based Interlocking.
  • Several years of proven  experience in the definition of signalling functional requirements (IXL principles) and knowledge of the Romanian Railway signalling rules in (LX , automatic block, Route setting&locking, overlap, approach locking, signal aspects, etc etc )
  • Capability to read and analyse critically functional requirements
  • Knowledge or capability to define engineering rules to define scheme plans and to define cutting of the line to reach headway performances
  • Deep understanding of Control Tables and capability to modify the same

Desirable:

  • HW Design and SW data generation processes understanding.
