Location: Bucharest, B, RO

Company: Alstom

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Project IXL Design Leader in Bucharest we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll be working alongside dynamic, adaptable, and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll perform Design Application Activities related to Interlocking for Central and East Europe Projects. Day-to-day, you will lead and organize the design activities of the IXL system of a signaling project, which may involve deploying a generic Alstom solution or adapting a solution to meet client needs in terms of Quality, Cost, and Delivery. You will oversee activities such as IXL hardware configuration and data generation, ensuring the delivery of a safe and robust solution for the Factory Acceptance Test, on-site installation, Testing & Commissioning, and ultimately revenue service.

You’ll specifically take care of contributing to interlocking sub-system specifications and architecture, but also ensuring design tool chain compliance and supporting hardware/software integration.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Contributing to the elaboration of interlocking (IXL) sub-system specifications and architecture in collaboration with the interlocking team
  • Following the design tool chain
  • Developing interlocking software modules
  • Preparing and performing interlocking sub-system module tests and verifications of deliverables (“Designer” tests), prior to formal Verification and Validation tests
  • Supporting hardware/software integration together with the hardware designer
  • Contributing to workload estimations for deliverables within your scope
  • Applying internal processes and standards
  • Driving continuous improvement through return of experience and process enhancement

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • University Degree in Engineering (Transportation Systems, Electronics, Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent)
  • Good analytical skills and previous experience in signaling application design, V&V discipline, or signaling product design; alternatively, experience in Safety Assurance
  • Experience in relay interlocking and computer-based interlocking
  • At least 4 years in relevant positions (e.g., systems/sub-systems application design or integration, electrotechnical product development) in a highly complex and normative environment (railway signaling, aerospace, defense)
  • Understanding of design and data preparation processes
  • Strong engineering and system background
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Italian or French is an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of ITC hardware architectures (e.g., client/server, workstation/Blade, IP networking, routing, operating systems)
