JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY: The European Affairs Manager reports to Alstom European Affairs Director and is part of the Commercial Department.
Main Tasks Will Include
- Monitor and analyze European Union legislative files with potential impact on Alstom’s business, in particular in the field of rail and zero-emission transport, industry, trade, environment, climate change and digitalization;
- Identify and report on EU funding and financial mechanisms which can support Alstom’s research and innovation activities as well as infrastructure project investment;
- Provide business teams with regular and clear updates on all relevant EU-level developments;
- Design of lobbying strategies: coordinate internally to align messaging, draft position papers and prepare (high-level) meetings as well as research work on strategic topics to advance Alstom’s global business interests;
- Develop and maintain relevant institutional contacts at the EU and national level and represent Alstom in trade associations;
- Attend and report on conferences, seminars and working groups, and support both internal and external events and meetings’ organisation.
PROFILE: To be considered for this role, the candidate need to be able to demonstrate the following skills experience and attributes - Political science, law or business Master’s Degree;
- Knowledge of EU institutions & their procedures - previous position in the European Commission / Parliament / Council or working experience in EU affairs requested;
- Excellent communication skills allowing to distill complex information into message that would resonate with political and regulatory audiences;
- Ability to promote the Group’s expertise and to build ad hoc coalitions with other sector stakeholders;
- Autonomy, flexibility and ability to take initiatives and work in a small team;
- Ability to work cross-functionally and to evolve in multicultural and deadline-driven environments;
- Fluency in French and English, other language is a plus;
- Knowledge of EU transport, industry, trade and/or climate change policies would be an asset;
- Good IT skills.
