Purpose of the job:

This position is mainly on construction site (80%) with an administrative portion (20%). 

You will ensure compliance with EHS rules on the site for both Alstom employees and Alstom contractors for testing & commissioning phases on equipements and trains.This position will support EHS activities for both NYC and NJ Sites. You will work closely with the permit offices, the supervisors assigned to the contractors / employees, employees/contractors and the prime contractor.

Key accountabilities:

  • Inspections and monitoring on site
  • Work permit overview
  • Support employees/contractors on risk assessment 
  • Coaching of supervisors
  • Broadcast EHS Induction for contractors / employees
  • Contractors Management
  • EHS Committee
  • Broadcast monthly toolbox
  • Accident investigation and action follow up
  • Qualification of contractor EHS documentation and monitoring
  • Emergency measures and first aid
  • Has full authority and must stop any operational activity resulting in immediate high risk to People or the Environment.

 

Performance measurements:  

  • Documented inspections
  • Total recordable Incident Rate
  • Lost time / Fatality / severe accidents
  • Modified work program
  • Health and wellbeing activities  
  • Environmental (Energy, water, waste, TOPE, VOC,..)
  • Training hours
  • Contractor readyness
  • Monthly Tool box
  • Inspections / Audits

 

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field is desired, but not required.
  • Minimum experience of 2 years in Environment, Health & Safety
  • Experience in construction or railway industry is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Good knowledge of Office (word, outlook etc), mandatory
  • Experience in projects, an asset
  • Good written English,  mandatory
  • Driving license, mandatory
  • Good knowledge and understanding of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001,ISO45001
  • Deep knowledge of local legal requirements, OSHA.

Salary Range 

  • $95,000-$110,000
