Purpose of the job:

 

  • Develop hardware electrical or electronic components (electronic boards or modules, electrical wiring of electronic products or cubicle …).
  • Note: Hardware Designer can also be FPGA Designer and rarely Mechanical Designer.

 

Your responsibilities:

 

  • Elaborate or contribute to the elaboration of Hardware (HW) specification & architecture, in collaboration with the HW architect.
  • Perform the detailed specification and design of the HW components, describing technical choices and verifying by analysis (com.putations, models, simulation, or mock-up) the compliance to input requirements.
  • Define the general plans for mechanical parts together with Mechanical Designers.
  • Define the electrical schematics.
  • Define the Bill Of Materials.
  • Define the placement and routing constraints for electronic boards.
  • Evaluate the thermal performances together with Thermal Engineers.
  • Select the materials, together with industrialization teams and HW technologists.
  • Optionally defines the interfaces of the programmable components (FPGA, CPLD) together with FPGA Designers.
  • Performs or follows the realization of the PCB design (CAD) and definition file. This activity can be under the responsibility of another HW designer specialized in CAD.
  • Ensure that the design can be manufactured, tested, and repaired, together with industrialization teams.
  • Follow the realization of the prototypes made by the industrialization team and check them.
  • Design and implement the firmware / SW necessary for HW component tests – or specifies the software to be developed.
  • Specify, design, prepare and perform HW components and work products verifications (including tests).
  • Put the Hardware work product under configuration management according to the product Configuration Management Plan.
  • Support the HW/ HW and HW/SW integration, together with the HW Architect and SW designer.
  • Support the HW validation of the product including environmental qualification and type tests.
  • Remain informed of the evolution of technologies through techno watch.
  • Through his / her activities, contribute to standardization by reusing existing solutions or by implementing reusable solutions.
  • Apply processes and standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (RoE: Return on Experience, process …).

 

Requirements:

 

  • Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering/Computer Science or Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering with 10+ years of experience in the domain.
  • Relevant experience in Electronic development; experience in the railways industry or in the industry with similar requirements (aeronautics, automotive, military) is desirable.
  • Vital hardware development is a plus.
  • Well written level of English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work with other engineering teams.
