Traffic Management System is a key technology in the railway signaling business, providing a set of advanced features for railway traffic automation and regulation.
Most of the european railway operators are investing to create national/regional railway control centers. ALSTOM is one of the world wide leader in this market, since it has been awarded with some of the most strategical bids lately. The variety and complexity covers almost any request coming from the world of traffic control centers.

 

Traffic Management Systems provides to railway operators advanced automation and decision support functions to plan, regulate, automate and optimize the train traffic circulation on complex network.
These systems are based on special software application, normally running on IT infrastructure/datacenter specially designed for business continuity and mission critical application.

 

Role Summary / Purpose

 

Alstom TMS has an opening for a Software Designer - DevOps Engineer, in its Bologna IT location.

 

Essential Responsibilities
• Deploy and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines across multiple environments
• Knowledge of software programming language (C#, WCF, WPF)
• Experience with Git
• Work alongside team of developers
• Deploy and maintain the product on VM Windows servers
• Implement automation, effective monitoring, and build-metrics management
• Support and work alongside a cross-functional engineering team on the latest technologies
• Iterate on best practices to increase the quality & velocity of deployments
• Sustain and improve the process of knowledge sharing throughout the engineering team
• Monitoring Windows virtual environments (VMware/HyperV experience desirable)
• Deployment automation using Azure DevOps Release
• Automated builds using Azure DevOps Pipeline
• Test automation using MSUnit, NUnit, or equivalent
• Ability to drive to goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail

 

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical related field
• Understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
• Strong communication, collaboration and documentation skills
• Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
• Fluent in English

 

Desired Characteristics
• Experience with delivery of a complex system
• Strong understanding of WCF services and related architectures
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of tools like Azure DevOps, Ansible, Puppet and Jenkins Pipeline
