Traffic Management System is a key technology in the railway signaling business, providing a set of advanced features for railway traffic automation and regulation.
Most of the european railway operators are investing to create national/regional railway control centers. ALSTOM is one of the world wide leader in this market, since it has been awarded with some of the most strategical bids lately. The variety and complexity covers almost any request coming from the world of traffic control centers.


Traffic Management Systems provide to railway operators advanced automation and decision support functions to plan, regulate, automate and optimize the train traffic circulation on complex network.
These systems are based on special software application, normally running on IT infrastructure/datacenter specially designed for business continuity and mission critical application.


Role Summary / Purpose

Alstom TMS has an opening for a DevOps Engineer, IT location.


Essential Responsibilities

• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

• Implement automation, effective monitoring, and build-metrics dashboards

• Iterate on best practices to increase the quality, reliability & velocity of deployments

• Ability to drive to goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to details

• Deploy and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines across multiple environments

• Build, deploy and update the product on Windows virtual environments (VMware/HyperV experience desirable) using Azure Devops pipelines

• Perform root cause analysis for build and deployment errors

• Integrates the automated tests scripts using MSUnit, NUnit, or equivalent

• Document the building and deployment processes
• Working with software developers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
• Support and work alongside a cross-functional engineering team on the latest CI/CD technologies
• Sustain and improve the knowledge sharing proceed throughout the engineering team



• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical related field
• Understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
• Strong communication, collaboration and documentation skills
• Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
• Fluent in English


Desired Characteristics

• Experience with deployment of a complex system

• Strong knowledge of software configuration

• Strong experience with Azure Devops and Powershell

• Proficient with git and git workflows

• Strong understanding of WCF services and related architectures
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of tools like Ansible, Puppet and Jenkins Pipeline


The position is located at our italian offices (Bologna, Florence, Rome or Bari) and will require regular travels (domestic and international missions).
