Traffic Management System is a key technology in the railway signaling business, providing a set of advanced features for railway traffic automation and regulation.

Most of the european railway operators are investing to create national/regional railway control centers. ALSTOM is one of the world wide leader in this market, since it has been awarded with some of the most strategical bids lately. The variety and complexity covers almost any request coming from the world of traffic control centers

 

 

Purpose of the Job

The V&V Engineer within TMS Unit, as member  of Project team, is in charge of TMS Subsystem Validation and Verification activities in the scope of standalone or platform level projects in Italy and other world countries.

 

Educational Requirements

Educated to University Degree level  in Electronics/Automation Engineering or Information Technology

 

Technical Knowledge / Experience

Traffic Management Systems provide to railway operators advanced automation and decision support functions  to plan, regulate, automate and optimize the train traffic circulation on complex network. 

These systems are based on special software application, normally running on IT infrastructure/datacenter specially designed for business continuity and mission critical application.

 

Required skills:

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Software testing.

Knowledge of Software verification and validation methodologies and processes.

Basic knowledge of IT architectures (client/server, workstation/Blade, IP networking, routing) and SQL databases.

Fluent English language

 

Preferred skills:

Knowledge and experience in Railway Software applications.

Basic knowledge of Signalling Principle and Rules.

Knowledge of Traffic Supervision and Regulation Principle.

Knowledge of SCRUM/Agile methodology.

Responsibilities

The TMS V&V Engineer is in charge of TMS Subsystem Verification and Validation activities:

  • write Project Verification and Validation plan;
  • execute, coordinate and monitor Project Verification, Integration and Test activities;
  • ensure requirement coverage along all Project duration;
  • perform full verification or validation of all parameters and data produced at Project level;
  • perform test campaigns, analyse and validate results, write test reports;
  • establish traceability matrix in cooperation with other Project stakeholders.
