The responsibility of the Project Safety Assurance Manager is to ensure that all the activities related to safety assurance are duly applied in the Projects in accordance with applicable norms and best practices followed by the Company.

The Project Safety Assurance Manager will work in strong liaison with internal teams: Application Engineering, RAM and Verification & Validation functions, Test & Commissioning, Quality and Assessment and all the external concerned stakeholders first of all external ISA (when present).



  • Coordinate all the safety assurance activities of the project
  • Perform safety studies and analysis, manage hazard log, review RAM, Verification & Validation and Test & Commissioning (T&C) activities, analyze application conditions, from a safety perspective
  • Apply defined safety assurance methodologies
  • Organize/attend periodic safety reviews
  • Deliver Safety reports and the final Safety Case at the end of the applied safety process with particular reference to the conclusions
  • Defend Safety Case argumentations in front of assessors (internal/external) partners and clients
  • Define and manage action plans to close/mitigate safety open points and/or specific requests from assessors
  • Analyze events having safety impacts (direct/indirect/potential) and manage related safety issues (if any)
  • Manage (if any) safety assurance engineers involved on her/his projects




  • Degree in Engineering or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in railway safety topics
  • Good knowledge of railway signalling principles, products and systems
  • Demonstrate integrity and be fully involved in in Alstom Ethics & Compliance Values
  • Good capability to work in team with respect for the competences of other members
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and able to guide, influence and convince others in a matrix organization
  • Sense of urgency, resilient (when necessary) and able to manage priorities
  • Fluent in Italian and English
  • Knowledge of basic Office tools


  • Knowledge of RAM techniques
  • Knowledge of Doors and/or other tools for requirement capturing
  • Knowledge of additional languages like French or Germans is a plus
  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques


The position is in our Bologna office and will require regular travels.
