Could you be the full-time Workshop & Line Manager in Boksburg we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your industrial management expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You'll play a key role in managing all manufacturing activities for a project(s) in the Line/Workshop, ensuring operational excellence and fostering a safe, efficient, and inclusive work environment. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and EHS), oversee production schedules, and drive continuous improvement initiatives, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of implementing corporate policies (such as International Railway Industry Standards and EHS guidelines), but also manage the development and performance of your team members.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Managing the manufacturing preparation and execution phases, including workload planning, resource allocation, and skills development.

  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, cost, and delivery (SQCD) performance metrics.

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives using APSYS tools to optimize workstations and processes.

  • Supervising configuration and change management activities, including retrofitting and first-train manufacturing feedback.

  • Overseeing time management and activity tracking for all employees, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and regulations.

  • Fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and professional development within the team.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Trade Qualification/National Diploma in Operations or Engineering (a degree is desirable).

  • Previous experience in an industrial environment, with a minimum of 10 years in similar roles and at least 5 years in people management.

  • Sound understanding of South African labor legislation and experience with unionized environments.

  • Proven ability to deliver against master production schedules and adhere to railway safety regulations and quality standards (ISO).

  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with digital tools for managing manufacturing activities.

  • Knowledge of industrial processes, manufacturing technologies, ergonomics, and configuration management.

  • Strong leadership skills, including team management, empathy, and the ability to foster an inclusive work environment.

  • Desirable: Experience in the railway industry, previous role as an EPU Manager, and familiarity with greenfield/brownfield development.

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.

  • Work with new security standards for rail signaling.

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.

  • Contribute to innovative projects.

  • Utilize our inclusive and agile working environment.

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.

  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs.

  • Progress towards senior leadership roles or other growth opportunities within the organization.

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognizes your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension).
