Job Title: Industrial Quality Inspector – Boksburg (Temp)

At Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd, we strive to deliver best in class locomotives to our customer for use of freight transportation on the railway corridors of South Africa.

Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an Industrial Quality Inspector for our Traxx Africa project based in Boksburg.  This is a Limited Duration Contract of more or less 17 months. 

THE PURPOSE OF THE INDUSTRIAL QUALITY INSPECTOR IS TO:

The Quality inspector ensures the compliance of products and parts delivered by the ALSTOM facilities. He / She performs inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures according to the applicable instructions on products ready for delivery and on products during their manufacturing process.  He / She validates manufacturing control plans. These control plans are written in close relationship with PME (Process & Manufacturing Engineering) teams.

 

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INDUSTRIAL QUALITY INSPECTOR WILL BE:

  • Perform inspections and ensure product compliance (check after rework).
  • Records inspection results in the industrial digital tools as required.
  • Perform destructive & non-destructive examination when required and qualified.
  • Maintain inspection records per component, assembly and vehicle.
  • Maintain Quality documentation for components, assemblies and vehicles.
  • Participate in customer joint inspections.
  • Preparation of approval and shipping documents.
  • Control the correct calibration of critical equipment's and instrumentations used in the inspections.

The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements: 

  • Visual Testing/Welding Inspection Level 2
  • Boilermaker or Welder Trade qualification will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 years quality control experience
  • Proven visual welding inspection experience
  • Experienced in Dimensional Measurements and Inspections
  • Microsoft office proficiency at intermediate level
  • Able to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings
  • Audit experience will be advantageous
  • Problem Solving skills will be required
  • Definition of PFMEA and Control Plan knowledge will be advantageous
  • Safety and Quality experience
  • Railway industry knowledge will be an advantage
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of Quality standard (ISO9001, IRIS, CMMI, …) and quality tools required.
  • Document Management Experience
  • Experience in operational activities
