Could you be the full-time / part-time Project Contract Manager - fix contract up to 24 months, in Berlin we’re looking for? 

 

Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your contract and claim management expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to Janna LINDEMANN - Country / Cluster Contract Manager and work alongside passionate, motivated and dedicated teammates.

 

You'll provide guidance and leadership to develop, implement and drive proactive contract and claim management as well as risk mitigation strategies including extensions of time (EoTs), variations orders and contract amendments. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with the Project Manager and the core project team, create strategies to improve and protect Alstom’s contractual rights and project profitability and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of consulting, training and support the project teams in contract-related issues as well as the preparation and/or defence of possible (legal) claims to or from contractual partners, but also the coordinating & negotiating with internal & external stakeholders.

 

We’ll look to you for: 

  • Design & develop the strategy in all project phases, based on the contract and changing requirements
  • Identification and solution of possible existing contractual problems and risks, and in particular opportunities
  • Ensure proper record keeping and file preparation in support of robust claim files
  • Monitor works toward contract obligations, including support to monitoring of project schedule towards achieving contractual milestones
  • Establish and implement project specific commercial procedures, particularly regarding correspondences, notifications, insurance, variation requests/orders and claims preparation files
  • Develop a pragmatic commercial approach based on contractual analysis of the project, to protect on daily basis Alstom interests
  • Carefully monitor, record, and notify customer/partners and any third-party regarding claims/counterclaims and prepare and manage all elements and supporting documentation for claims/counterclaims negotiations
  • Provide proactive advice on specific issues, risks, contractual/claims activities, considering the contract and business objectives
  • Anticipate events and risks associated with the contract management activities; propose alternative proactive solutions to keep the situation under control

As an all-rounder, you are familiar with the entire spectrum of contract management and, in addition to the methodical know-how and the joy of working with people, you also have the following skill set:  

  • A degree in Law / Engineering / Finance / Technical / Economics / business sciences
  • Fluent English and German (mandatory)
  • Minimum of 5 years of Contract / Claim Management experience (preferred) / Project Management
  • Ability to read and interpret contractual documents, including terms and conditions, planning, and technical specifications
  • Ability to understand project financials and impact of contract/claim management on project’s profitability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations including willingness and ability to be creative and bring forward new ideas and innovations
  • Ability to work transversally and collaboratively in a strong spirit of teamwork
  • Strong negotiation skills, analytical skills, result orientation
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% to 30% of the time
