Head of External Communications (m/f/d) for Germany, based in Berlin, Germany.

 

As Head of External Communication in Germany your mission will be to ensure consistent communications to support the business and the reputation in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). You will be working in close coordination with internal & external stakeholders and supporting the Management team of the organisation.

 

Accountabilities:
•    Building and developing Alstom’s image and reputation towards external stakeholders with a strong focus on the press, including all channels and social media
•    Taking the responsibility for media relations and crisis communications
•    Promoting the product and service portfolio to support the business
•    Managing the external communications teams

 

External Communications:

 

Media relations with national/regional press
The Head of External Communications Germany leads media relations in coordination with DACH Region Communications VP and in accordance with rules defined centrally
•    Behaves proactively towards media to enhance the Alstom awareness, success stories and project milestones: interviews, press-breakfasts etc.
•    Advises management on media and speaking opportunities and behaviour
•    Writes communication documents for specific targets (internal/external): press releases; press kits; statements, Q&A for interviews, speeches, etc.
•    Analyses what the target groups expect from and think about the company and matches this with the company’s core messages and stories
•    Organizes country/cluster media clipping and escalates to Central Information department relevant articles and coverage pieces and creates, manages and updates country/cluster media database
•    Manages Crisis communications in accordance with the rules defined at central level (incl. external/ internal positions papers), in close coordination with Region Communications VP, Country/Cluster MD + support functions for inputs.

 

Customer Relations:

•    Leads Customers Communications Relations for local events and projects (such as local 1st deliveries, local projects milestones, inaugurations…), including the communications action plans.
•    Includes customers communications’ relationship follow-up.
•    Defines standards formats of events, manages retro-planning, logistics, messages, speaking opportunities and speaker identification, media briefings, press-kits, audio-visual instruments
•    Manages and leads all local events with the support of DACH Communications VP , Central Events, Information and Brand teams
•    Leads Sites Visits targeting Institutions and Customers.
•    Supports Tender communications of the country/cluster (incl. messages, support for marketing communications) with the support of Central tender communications manager
•    Leads and supervises Digital Content creation & communication as well as events organization 


Key requirements:
•    You hold a university degree - specialization in Mass-Media/ Journalism or communication 
•    You have at least 10 years of experience in external communications, preferably of an international company or as a journalist
•    You are an excellent communicator, listener with strong written, presentation & facilitation skills
•    You represent excellent customer focus
•    You can speak in front of a crowd and can handle critical situations with a calm and pragmatic attitude
•    You are proactive and can respond to pressing issues and challenges with agility
•    You are efficient and creative in identifying target audiences and reaching out to them
•    You have strong experience in social media planning and execution
•    You bring in previous event management experience 
•    Proficient English and  German language skills
