Mechanical Lead Engineer – General Studies in Barcelona.

We’re looking for a Mechanical Lead Engineer to manage Mechanical Integration activities and deliverables on projects and tenders. You’ll work alongside people who show up with ownership, passion, and dedication — because they know what’s at stake: the journey home.
Your role, your impact
- Define rolling stock size in order to guarantee the traffic safety and the optimization of the allowed space.
- Simulation kinematics car-car defining relative displacements between parts.
- Create kinematic envelope of the bogie and guarantee there is no interference with adjacent installations.
- Carrying out the weight balance of the trainsets, define the weight allocations for all installations and components and to manage the evolution of the trainset weight during the tender/project phase.
- Defining the layouts of the train. Carry out detailed studies to comply with accessibility regulations.
- Defining and share with the Train Design Team the requirements which defines the architecture of the train, including the following tasks: Clarifying requirements, Synthetizing requirements, Analysing & developing requirements, Allocating requirements and Proposing Means of Proof associated to Requirements
- Defining with the Train Design Engineer and implement the list of installations (IBS) which forms the train.
- Managing the allocated volume and the interfaces for each installation on the 3D mock-up.
- Managing the Preferred Parts List of the project (3PL) assuring the achievement of the objectives of the project.
- Specifying the tints and colours of the parts of the trainset according to the Design Book
- Ensuring General Studies deliverables quality and their acceptance by the Customer (internal or external) within committed limits.
- Reporting on General Studies activities progress and alerting relevant N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting achievement of QCD commitments.
- Managing planning of General Studies activities.
- Checking sub-contractor's Design Quality
- Preparing and documenting General Studies Design Reviews according to project schedule and following-up the main open actions.
- Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on General Studies scope.
- Verifying design via mock-ups or simulations.
What you bring
- Industrial Engineer Degree.
- Experience in Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products
- Knowledge of CATIA-V5 and 3Dcom/Enovia.
- Knowledge in programming.
- Knowledge of Doors® is a plus.
- Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer) in an international environment.
- Time management and reporting skill.
- Sense of urgency / priority.
- Structured and organised with Hands-on approach.
- English operational in read/writing and technical meetings. Other languages are welcome
