Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Communications Engineering, or equivalent.

​​​​​​​Relevant experience required

• Design, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and modification & repair of Railways System

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role

• Minimum of 8 years experience in Railways system. Data analysis, System reliability experience will be considered as strong asset.
• Understanding of Signalling system architecture and control
• Understanding of CF550 architecture and functionality (great asset if possess)
• Analysis of network communications (Wireshark). UDP and TCP port communications.
• Understanding of Functionality of RATP/RATO (great asset if possess)
• Knowledge of basic rolling stock and interfaces
• Analysis of CFMS logs from the operation of CBTC trains.(great asset if possess)
• Understanding of signalling lab environment and associated simulators.
• Capability to program software tools (e.g. C++) to facilitate analysis or simulation of equipment.(great asset if possess)

The System Performance Engineer will be the technical lead on site during the test and commissioning period.  The role needs to ensure site testing activity going in the right direction, and being the onsite technical point of contact for the development team and ITC team. This is to ensure that the test results are correctly interpreted and captured, and the performance (Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability) of the delivered products is meeting customer requirement.  Ensure that the customer’s key operational and maintenance concerns /issues will be escalated and well managed in order to maximize the customer satisfaction.

• To lead the analysis of test results and perform a first level troubleshooting and analysis of the causes for failed test cases.
• Support the ITC team to define efficient test strategies for the different test cases (e.g. log analysis) and create proper test records and KPIs for the tested objects.
• To raise and update NCRs with analysis information that will help developers fix the detected issues efficiently.
• To be responsible for monitoring performance and analysing data related to operational stability of the system during the test and commissioning phases. The System Performance Engineer will translate data into actionable requirements, contribute to product development, and establish a methodology for benchmarking, performance improvement and KPI tracking.
• To coordinate with PE to agree the software release plan to resolve the project issues based on Site issues reporting by the client.
• To be the Engineering point of contact for site issue for urgent matter i.e. service interruption etc. System performance will lead the investigation until the solution is identified. 
• To release weekly Failure Management Report which contains a list of technical open issues and NCRs still in analysis stage to the Project core team for further actions.
• To provide best possible solution to overcome site issues to ensure train operation is smooth and reliable.
• To be the Engineering point of contact for site issue for urgent matter i.e. service interruption etc. System performance will lead the investigation until the solution is identified. 
• particularly to this position, the preliminary root cause analysis shall be within 24 hours and the final root cause analysis in 48 hours. 

Key responsibilities 

1. Support onsite (day/night test) together with ITC team to help optimize testing of the system and consolidation of test results. Develop and adapt tools and documents as needed to simplify test activities and reporting.
2. Troubleshoot and analyze test results for failed test cases promptly after site tests. Be structured and systematic on the consolidation of test results and analysis information required for efficient NCR resolution.
3. Escalate anslysis results to to the development team and follow the progress until the issues are correctly understood and planned for implementation.
4. Build effective working partnerships across functional departments and key Stakeholders within ALSTOM to enhance the customer experience. Understand and be able to effectively utilize internal processes.
5. Able to work abroad and stay short-medium term
