The Network and Telecom Product Engineer is responsible to act as the technical expert in mission-critical wired network implementation, in order to deliver a stable and resilient railway communications system.

 

The successful candidate will undertake day to day responsibility for leading the efforts to define, develop, validate and maintain the Network Solution, and will serve as the point of escalation for complex technical queries encountered during the system deployment.

 

This position requires a strong understanding and skillsets in network design, systems engineering, and cyber security.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize the wired network solution based on the system application requirements
  • Develop network sub-system requirements framework
  • Define the architecture and implementation methodology for the standard network solution
  • Collaborate within the program team to integrate interfaces of the network solution (e.g. radio system, application developers)
  • Create and maintain standard documents for the network solution in accordance with project-specific requirements
  • Create test cases for validation activities related to the network solution and review test results
  • Act as technical reference for issue escalation during project deployment
  • Ensure that the solutions proposed comply with the relevant Quality and Process directives
  • Regularly suggest tools and product improvements in line with technological developments

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Network and/or Telecoms Engineering,
  • 2 to 5 years of Network Design and deployment experience,
  • Experience in network deployment
  • Hands-on experience with network management and traffic analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, iperf)

 

Competencies & skills:

  • Proven expertise in the field of Ethernet and MPLS solutioning and deployment
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard protocols (OSPF, VRRP, RSTP, QoS, SNMP, NTP etc.)
  • Familiarity with network cyber security controls (802.1x, RADIUS, firewall, LDAP, SIEM, IDS …)
  • Competency in NMS implementation for network status and control
  • Familiarity with network implementation using major telecoms suppliers: (Cisco, Hirschmann, HP, Huawei, Nokia, Westermo)
  • Knowledge on Software Defined Networks technology,
  • Working knowledge of Requirements Management and Configuration Management tools
  • Be proactive and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in the Transportation industry (specifically Rail),
  • Experience in collaboration within a multi-cultural and diverse global team
  • Experience in radio communications
  • Experience in signaling and/or telecom system concepts and architecture
