Purpose of the job (explain in a few sentences the primary purpose of this position and its major objectives; it may help to fill out the key responsibilities first)

Pro-actively support the Lead Project Controller in the commercial and financial control of their projects so that Project Controllers can concentrate on influencing revenues & costs and supporting the Project Managers in steering their project.

Key responsibilities (describe key responsibilities in order of importance and specify the approximate amount of time, e.g. in % related to the typical business cycle)

1.

Invoicing, dunning, cash and FX planning:

Ensure that all invoices are done accurately and on time for all kinds of payments.

• Check payment and tax terms and ensure that advance, milestone and final acceptance payments as well as supplier charge backs are invoiced and paid on time

• Check bi-weekly the overdue payments and distribute reminder list

• Create payment plan for new projects (Doc 4)

• Forecast weekly the expected cash-ins of all projects for the next couple of months

• Create monthly claim payment status report with invoiced, received and open amounts

• Support factoring demands

• Check the FX payment schedule and upload it into the FX Planner on time for quarterly closing

Bond administration:

Pro-actively initiate a bond reduction or bond return as soon as possible.

Check after issuance of all invoices for final acceptance if a corresponding advance payment bond exists and can be reduced/returned

 

3.

Structure project financials:

Ensure that the local ERP project structures are accurate, created on time and in enough detail to allow Project Controller proper cost control.

• Create new project structure in local ERP system for new projects and inform functions

• Align, simplify or extend project structure according to Project Controller advice and on own proposition (e.g. closure of old manufacturing accounts)

• Transfer projects from running projects to delivered projects and close them

 

4.

Book EAC’s:

Ensure on time adjustment of changes in plan calculation in order to deliver proper margin recognition in every month.

• Review monthly the costs for small projects and discuss EAC adjustments with PC

• Adjust timely EAC plan calculations according to PC-input (local ERP & G4)

• Provide monthly summary of EACs of all major projects

 

5.

Do project-planning and analyze project-financials:

Help the lead project controller in analyzing financials (e.g. material per unit) or other analyses as well as support during budget:

• Draft and enter project- budget and -forecast into G4

• Analyze project-financials on a monthly basis

• Prepare monthly project reporting (e.g. PPRS, Division-internal reporting)

• Draft calculations for change/variation orders and price escalation formulas

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

Education

  • Relevant accounting / finance degree

Relevant experience required (i.e. directly linked to the requirements of the position/role)

  • 2-3 years experience in a similar type role
  • Experience in financial controlling and reporting
