Job Title: Traction Design Leader (TDL)
Purpose of the job
- Within the Traction Design, you will manage the S&A, EHI, Mechanical and Advance Indus resources and their activities on a dedicated project.
- You will be responsible of all Traction Design engineering deliverables

- Hierarchical Reporting: (Site) Traction Design Manager (TDMM)

- Engineering: Design team (other MEs, DLEs, …), TSS, Validation team, Costing Team…
- Project: Train Design Engineer (TDE), Industrial Lead Engineer (ILE), Project Sourcing Manager (PrSM), Project Planning
- Manager (PrPM), ILS Manager
- Site: Sourcing Department (Buyers), Indus Department, Manufacturing, Quality Department, etc…
- Participating Units & CoE: Electrical/Mechanical Lead Engineers (MLE) counterparts on the corresponding project(s)/program(s)
- External Interface: Customers, Suppliers, Subcontractors
Mission & Responsibilities
Performance Measurement/KPI’s
- For all projects under the responsibility of the Site
- Continuous improvement of the Tracction Design team performance for project/program
- Respect of QCD work packages
- Design reviews performed on time and documented
- Workload management of the teams involved for the allocated projects
- Contribution to Traction Métier
- Compliance to Alstom Transport/Engineering processes & instruction
- PPL Adherence
- Quality of the deliveries of his functional team on projects
- Closure of open points or escalation: 10 days maximum
- Compliance to Engineering Work Package (variation orders excluded): 100%
Responsibilities
Responsible for Quality, Cost and Delivery of Traction Design deliverables:
Responsible for:
Lead Workload, budget and planning on his project
Reporting on QCD to Traction Manager
Regular reporting to the management and alert in case of issue affecting the performance of the team
Manage Mechanical design
Manage Schematics&Apparatus design
Manage EHI design
Manage Advanced Indus activity
Leading Design Review
Manage other engineering activities (simulation, EMC, Thermal…)
Reporting Technical progress to TDMM
Support Manufacturing (internal and at suppliers)
Ensure data exchange with Sourcing
Participate to Change Management team and ensure consistency of Configuration
Ensure Return of Experience and support continuous improvement with Metier
Contributor for:
- Perform quotation of engineering work-package, upon request
- Defining Project Decomposition (PBS)
- Supporting Sourcing, Industrialization and Manufacturing teams during Production ramp-up.
- Collaborating with MDL for continuous improvement of the Domain (including RoE)
Job Specifications
Educational Requirements
- Technical education.
- English read, written, spoken
Desired Knowledge / Experience
- Traction Design engineering knowledges at least on one of the three domains (Mech, S&A, EHI or Indus) but more is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Traction Design (Mechanical, S&A, EHI and /or Indus).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in activity/team management
- Train systems/functions knowledges is a real plus
- Good knowledge for Electrical Integration
- Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer).
- Time management and reporting skill.
- Sense of urgency / priority.
- Structured and organised with Hands-on approach.
- English operational in read/writing and technical meetings.
