Could you be the full-time Traction Control Engineer in Bangalore we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in traction systems, control techniques, and simulation tools in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, innovative, and dynamic teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in the development cycle of embedded software for traction converters, ensuring compliance with EN50128 standards and contributing to national and international rail projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Traction System Engineers, RAMS, Quality, and Software Engineers), interact with customers and suppliers, and coordinate technical solutions, among other tasks.

You’ll specifically take care of defining Software Functional Requirements for traction applications and supporting commissioning and software teams, but also writing specifications and managing modifications for command-control systems.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Respecting and applying EHS rules
  • Adhering to design and EN50128 internal processes
  • Developing and managing functional software specifications for traction/auxiliary systems.
  • Application Software development for traction control using FBD, ST, State machine (IEC61131) coding technique.
  • Work on cross disciplinary problems relating to power electronics, thermal management, algorithms and performance improvements for various electric motors and controllers
  • Mentor team members for modelling and simulations in a MBD/MBSE flow for development.
  • Knowledge on communication protocols such as CAN, TRDP, MVB are added advantage.
  • Collaborating with internal and external customers to explain technical solutions
  • Coordinating command-control development with the entire train system
  • Participating in audits and ensuring compliance with certifications
  • Supporting software integration, validation, and testing on trains
  • Managing project planning and workload activities
  • Organizing and overseeing functional requirement descriptions with software teams
  • Ensuring technical interfaces with subcontractors and delivery acceptance

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in system design
  • Basic knowledge of power converters, IGBT devices, traction systems, and asynchronous motors
  • Advanced knowledge of control techniques
  • Familiarity with simulation tools
  • Basic understanding of mechanics, thermodynamics, and air systems
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques and system acquisition
  • Experience with configuration management principles
  • Understanding of requirement traceability principles
  • Good English oral and written communication skills
  • Autonomy, analytical skills, team spirit, and strong communication abilities
