Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your software development expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You'll play a key role in delivering software modules by ensuring detailed design and implementation, contributing to Alstom’s mission of creating sustainable mobility solutions. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including Software Architects, Hardware Designers, and V&V Designers, to meet quality, cost, and delivery commitments. You’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and solutions, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of designing, coding, and maintaining software applications using C++, and performing module tests and verifications, but also ensuring the software work products are managed according to our Configuration Management Plan.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Contributing to the elaboration of software specifications and architecture in collaboration with the Software Architect

  • Developing detailed designs and implementing software modules

  • Setting up the software development toolchain

  • Preparing and performing software module tests and verifications

  • Supporting software and hardware integration alongside the hardware designers

  • Staying informed about evolving technologies and contributing to standardization by reusing or implementing reusable solutions

  • Applying processes and standards while contributing to continuous improvement


All about you

  • Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Engineering – IT, CS, ECE, EEE, or equivalent

  • 8+ years of experience in designing software modules for complex embedded systems

  • Experience in developing Embedded/RTOS applications such as Linux or QNX

  • Strong knowledge of embedded concepts including multi-threading, IPC, and networking

  • Proficiency in software development using C++ and Linux

  • Understanding of TCP/IP and computer buses

  • Problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to identify root causes in complex systems

  • Familiarity with security principles, secure network communications, and the security domain

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, C#) and protocols such as UDP, TCP/IP, CIP, CAN, and MVB

  • Knowledge of virtual machine management and RT OS like Linux, VX Works, QNX, and Cent OS

  • Experience in the rail industry or similar industries is desirable

  • Prior experience working with European customers is a plus
