Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your safety assurance expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and solution-driven team of professionals.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of our Mainline ETCS projects, delivering safe and reliable solutions that meet the highest industry standards. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Core Teams, Engineering Metiers, Quality & Internal Safety Assessors, RAM, Cybersecurity teams, and more), coordinate safety assurance activities, and provide leadership in managing safety plans and reports.

You’ll specifically take care of defining safety plans, performing safety analyses, and managing hazard logs, but also lead safety reviews and defend safety case argumentations with internal and external assessors.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Coordinating all safety assurance activities on the ETCS Solution System for projects as per the defined safety processes.

  • Performing safety analyses and managing hazard logs while reviewing RAM, Cyber, V&V, and T&C activities from a safety perspective.

  • Defining safety plans and managing safety workload and associated planning.

  • Supporting tenders and regional center teams in integrating product/system safety into projects.

  • Building comprehensive Safety Reports and Safety Cases.

  • Applying safety assurance methodologies, including risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, and verification and validation processes.

  • Organizing and attending periodic safety reviews.

  • Defending safety case arguments in front of assessors and defining action plans to address findings.

  • Managing Safety Assurance Engineers involved in the project, as applicable.


All about you

  • Advanced University or Engineering degree (mandatory).

  • 12 years of experience in the railway business, with at least 5 years in safety assurance (mandatory).

  • Mastery of Cenelec Standards for Safety (or equivalent standards such as AREMA, IEEE) and safety methodologies and principles (mandatory).

  • System, electrical, electronics, or electromechanical engineering knowledge (desirable).

  • Knowledge of signalling systems such as IXL and ERTMS – ETCS L2 (desirable).

  • Experience in team or project management (desirable).

  • Structured and organized mindset with a proactive and team-oriented approach.

  • Strong sense of anticipation, urgency, and the ability to say "no go" when necessary while offering solutions.
