Currently, the company is executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow where it is supplying Rolling Stock manufactured out its state of the art facility at SriCity in Andhra Pradesh. In the Mainline space, Alstom is executing Signaling & Power Supply Systems for the 343 Km. section on World Bank funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Phase 1 in the construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 units of 12000HP locomotives is also complete at Madhepura, Bihar while the depot at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh is ready to commence operation. JOB TITLE:  Reporting & Budgeting Controller – Rolling Stock

Based in Bangalore (India)



The R&B Controller  position, reporting to Alstom Transport  Rolling Stock (RS) Bangalore Site Controller, will have the responsibility to consolidate and control the RS budgets.


The primary objectives will be the following : Be responsible for Internal and external reporting about the RS unit’s financial performance for actuals as well as forecasts


Operations Finance:

  • Control internal & external costs, commitments & interfaces toward suppliers, action plans, roadmaps. Develop Budgets, Forecasts and related MIS submissions.
  • Set-up the adequate processes & KPIs to measure RS performance on a monthly / quarterly / yearly basis.
  • Be a strong business partner to RS division.
    Management Reviews:
  • Support Monthly Business reviews with leadership in India and Asia Pacific on Alstom India performance and coordinate with various stakeholders to develop the business review deck and material.
  • Ensure project performance is well integrated into financial reporting for RS projects.
    You are expected to play an active role to support the various RS teams : pro-active, flexible, innovative, close to your Business needs.
  1. Measurement and Performance Controlling of the RS teams


  • Interface with Accounting team for monthly closing
  • Monthly Settlement Runs
  • Monthly reporting in Reporting Tool i.e.Teranga
  • Preparation of monthly presentation for Site Management
  • Reconciliation of Statutory and Teranga reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with RAM(Groups Reporting and Accounting Manual) and local GAAP


  • Hard close of books
  • Compilation of information for Statutory accounts
  • Interface with auditors( Cost Auditor/Statutory Auditors)

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Preparation of Three Year Plan for the Site including projects
  • Preparation of Rolling forecasts
  • Input into Teranga

Cash Forecast

  • Monthly forecasting of cash including variance analysis of Forecast vs. Actual.

BONGA database -  Monitoring of database and initiate actions for renewal/cancellation

External reporting - Submission of information to banks/credit agencies/government departments


2: Business Partnering : All RS Operations Finance business partnership activities will be managed by you !

As a consequence, you will have recurrent interfaces with the RS teams and with other finance teams from ALSTOM and review processes to eliminate non value added activities and streamline operations and report on project financial performance

3. Action Plans to drive cost reductions, monitoring & controlling

The Finance partner, will lead the development and measurement of these action plans, tracking risks & opportunities, evolve roadmaps to reduce cost and improve efficiency.

4. Budget & Forecast

Build, with his/her counterpart, budget & forecast for each RS Operations team taking into account cost and efficiency targets, workloads & cost drivers, footprint evolutions, action plans set.

A key success factor will be to give visibility to the Management in India & in Asia Pacific on the financial performance and on forecasts through budget & 3YP processes, highlighting risks & opportunities as well as mitigation plans & outcomes achieved.

5. Business Reviews & Consolidation.

The role requires familiarity of how budgets are set across individual RS cost centers and ensuring common rules and practices are applied to maintain consistency. It also review of overall and individual financials to better explain financial performance to key stakeholders, including local India senior management and RS management. It will require familiarity with SAP, reporting tools used in Alstom and also submission of forecasts, actuals and budgets for the Corporate team.


  • Strong knowledge of SAP
  • You must have an Academic background in Finance or Business Administration with experience of controlling activities in an industrial company
  • Autonomous, pro-active, result and deadline driven
  • Flexible, able to push for innovative ideas.
  • Chartered Accountant with 5 years of experience.
  • Location - Bangalore
