Job Title: Project RS on-board design leader

The Rolling Stock on-board design leader is part of the Project Engineering Team.
He or she is accountable to deliver a system approved by the customer and consistent with the project schedule. The considered systems can be:
- On-board network system
- Passenger announcement and information system
- CCTV system
- Event recorder system
- Passenger counting system
- Train wake-up system
- Train-to-ground communication system
He or she develops system architecture by defining and allocating requirements, evaluating design trade-offs, balancing technical risks, defining and assessing interfaces, and maintaining close coordination with verification and validation activities and project deployment activities, in line with the system roadmap.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
He or she is accountable for achieving QCD commitments and acts as the direct technical interface with Rolling Stock for the assigned metier.
Main responsibilities include:
- Provide design specification and validation monitoring solutions up to customer acceptance while minimizing system deployment costs, lead time, and risks
- Check that external interfaces are consistent with the system
- Supervise and participate in system deliveries including requirements management, architecture definition, interface definition, detailed design, and system performance
- Organize design reviews
- Contribute to defining functional validation phases (PC, bench, TrainLab, train)
- Ensure all domain and metier activities follow quality processes

Own PACIS system engineering activities for projects, covering CCTV, PA, PIS, displays, and communication equipment

Ensure integration of PACIS with train networks (TCMS) and other onboard / wayside subsystem

Support Train‑to‑Ground (T2G) communication and PACIS connectivity topics as part of system delivery

Hands‑on experience with CCTV systems, including cameras, NVRs, storage units, and video distribution on train

Good understanding of Public Address (PA) systems, including amplifiers, controllers, loudspeakers, and audio distribution
- Support the Project Engineering Manager to ensure transparency of engineering work package QCD performance, including physical progress
- Participate in risk and savings reviews for the assigned scope
- Act as the technical interface with suppliers for buy solutions and ensure correct system integration
- Ensure correct cascading of customer requirements to suppliers and take action in case of mismatch
- Support suppliers in achieving ALSTOM standards and participate in gates and delivery reviews (FAI, delivery reviews) in line with the project schedule
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Performance is measured through:
- Project quality, cost, and delivery objectives
- Timely delivery and approval of system specifications (SyRS, SyAD, SyID, SyPD)
- Maturity of project requirements including traceability and coverage
- Configuration-controlled deliveries
- Any other indicators defined in the Engineering Management Plan
EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES AND REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Educational requirements
Mandatory:
- Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent
Desirable:
- Network and Telecom training
- IT services training
- Cybersecurity training
Experience
Mandatory:
- Experience in on-board electronic system design, even if outside the railway domain
Desirable:
- Experience in network and telecom solutions
- Knowledge of cybersecurity standards
- Experience in QCD supplier management
Competencies and skills:
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to work transversally with engineering teams
