Purpose of the Job

  • Ensure that all software developments in their domain / site / region are aligned with the organization's software strategy and roadmap.
  • Act as technical authority in their domain / site (for example, embedded software development, Linux software development, Windows software development…)

 

Main Responsibilities 

 

  • Contribute to the definition of the organization’s software strategy and roadmap.
  • Ensure the deployment of the organization’s software strategy and roadmap in the software systems in their scope and domain.
  • Report on the progress of the deployment of the organization’s software strategy and roadmap.
  • Ensure the architectural, technological, and technical consistency in the software systems in their scope and domain.
  • Demonstrate that the design and architecture of the software system in their scope align with the business goals.
  • Mentor the software architect team and provide technical leadership.
  • Develop and lead continuous improvement and best practices to ensure software engineering efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Chair the design reviews of the software in their scope.
  • Technically coordinates task forces and ensures appropriate return of experience is done.
  • Support sourcing and tenders on software topics
  • Keep informed of the evolution of technologies through techno watch.
  • Collaborate with the universities, technology forums, standard committees.

 

Experience : 

Mandatory 

  • Strong experience in mission critical software architecture design and development

Desirable 

  • Strong Railway Industry knowledge with operational background.
  • Full software engineering development lifecyle view

 

Competencies and Skills

 

  • Deep understanding of software architecture principles, models, and methodologies.
  • Good understanding of software development processes, methods, and tools
  • Strong technical leadership with proven hands-on in coding, configuration, and deployment
  • Effective stakeholder and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to solve complex software design and architecture issues.
  • Excellent verbal English communication skills in international environment and transverse engineering
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work with other engineering teams.
  • Ability to work with remote collaborators.
