Overall Purpose of the Role:

  • Lead the design, specification and integration activities for the set of ICC System for the new development or evolutions of existing ones, in line with delivery roadmap and as agreed with the System Program Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design of distribution of the multiple servers and application for the ICC system.
  • Applies processes, methods and tools as referenced by the program plans.
  • Design the data configuration needed for program.
  • Supports the development and integration during integration phases.
  • Organize the Design Reviews with sub-system teams.
  • Develop design-to-cost approach in developments to decrease unit cost of solutions.
  • Supports the System Program Manager for identification of technical risks and definition of the development strategy.
  • Support System Program Manager to define the best Product validation policy and strategy.
  • Alert the reporting structure for any event that could impact QCD (Quality, Cost, Delay) commitments
  • Under the control of the System Program Manager, and in collaboration with the System Designers and coordination with other System Architects (s)he ensures quality, consistency, and on time delivery of the design and specification according to the development strategy.
  • Leads and participates to the system design and specifications, defines the system architecture and by application of System Engineering techniques for :
    • System Design (conceptual design through critical thinking & holistic analysis; integration of end-users, experts recommendations; ensures design for testability, cybersecurity, RAM and safety; provides interface resolution and management)
    • Technical reviews & decisions
    • System Specifications (Structured system specifications; development and integration of RAM, safety, cybersecurity, sub-system, software, hardware and V&V needs; system modelling and requirements writing, management and traceability)
    • Application of verifications (document reviews, peer reviews)
    • Configuration Management
  • Interfaces with the System Application Architect for projects and tenders activities (evolutions & anomalies analysis, design & documentation support)
  • Ensure technical coordination, arbitrate design choice (with Design Authority for the main ones)
  • Alerts and reports on any event/risks that may impact the system development
  • Participates to the program CCB
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (REX: Return of EXperience, process, workload estimations/metrics, …)
  • Supports the Program Development Manager for workload estimations for the system design deliverables
  • Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct. 

 

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • BE/B.Tech/M.Tech with 12 to 15 years of system design and development experience.

 

Behavioural competencies:

  • Strong Communication and Inter-personnel skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with different people and teams of people by putting others at ease.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, while maintaining effectiveness

Technical competencies and experiences

  • Experienced in design and deployment methodology (V cycle, SysML, requirement management) . Preferred to have expertise in (Model Based) System Engineering
  • Product & Domain knowledge
  • Some knowledge on signalling system (interlocking, ATC and ATS) - Optional
  • Knowledge of network and network protocols (Pub-Sub. OPC UA, SOAP, MODBUS 0MQ, …)
  • Knowledge of technical elements linked to modern Railway Signalling (IP networks, embedded software, XML technology) 
  • Autonomy and proactivity are a key success factors for this job.
  • Preferred from Automation industry or signalling companies.
  • Ability to work transversally with Engineering teams
  • Technical decision management
  • Understanding of System V&V
  • Design for safety and cybersecurity (when required) and RAM compliance - Optional
  • Design for Quality life cycle
  • English communication skills

Experience/Skill set

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in system engineering
  • Optional: Knowledge of the (signaling) program domain.
