Overall Purpose of the role:

Role will be hosted in the core functions and will strengthen the horizontal linkage.

  • Govern Product strategy and roadmap
  • Drive ownership, Product life-cycle management as per solution expectations (align to market trends)
  • Drive Safety Culture during development and validation phases

Working in close collaboration with all Product managers,  Solution director and product architects to ensure that products are aligned to product life cycle policy. They ensure to communicate clearly to all stakeholders and identify deviation in strategies early and mitigate the risks.


  • Creating and maintaining product roadmap from Market and R&D requirement till end of life in line with Solution expectations, Core Technology policy/Product Development Organization (PDO)/Product Industrial Organization (PIO) and Industrial & Sourcing Strategy.
    • lifecycle status management from introduction to end of life (Phase in/Phase Out)
    • Define new developments projects based on requirements (new features and functions)
    • Communicating progress against the product roadmap and keeping stakeholders informed of updates through Product Category Reviews.
    • Product Total Cost and related competitiveness actions with all métier involved
    • Production Lead time /Time to market” improvement based on solution target with procurement team.
    • Product phase in/phasing-out plan with Solution and Service
    • Recurrent, development and sustaining cost improvement plan (Re-factoring, M/B Re-sourcing, Product REX)
    • Managing obsolescence risk (Product, Test bench, tools) and corresponding Business case decision making
  • Scope management in line with Solution Strategy and R&D / Sustaining needs
  • Governance to manage all Product data information (Catalogue/Datasheet /User Manual) and Key Performance Feature
  • Ensure through product managers the product quality and performance including:
    • change management and impact analysis
    • root cause analysis review
    • safety status
  • Supporting final customer demo/pre-tendering/maintainability activities when needed
  • A key stakeholder and contributor with Solution Directors, Global Demand and Supply Chain in volume forecasting.
  • Collaborate to Providing/Managing Product internal training


For Application software development, mentor product managers and drive ownership across teams and guide them to have responsibility specific to Software life cycle,

  • Create product configuration plan (Branching and Source Code Management Strategy).
  • Define optimum release strategy based on type of fix / updates / new features (HotFix / Major Release / Feature Pack etc.) to meet market needs and reduce release overheads.
  • Define technology roadmap for the next generation of products.
  • Define the Contribute to métiers technical REX, Lifecycle process, method, and tools continuous improvement.
  • Timely communication to projects using bulletins, alerts, and technical write-ups.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Architects and Specification teams to identify generic functionality and work towards productization
  • Focus on quality attributes and non-functional aspects of the product like cyber security, availability, reliability etc.


Qualifications & Skills:


Bachelor/Post Graduate in Engineering – IT, CS, ECE & EEE or Equivalent

Exhibit good leadership skill with Attention to details, data Literacy and Organizational awareness. Team Player with prior experience in working with Global teams  is preferable.

Technical competencies and Experience

18+ years of experience in engineering / R&D organization, involved in end to end software product development:

The successful candidate will able to thrive in a highly collaborative workplace and actively engage in the team and process spread across different geographical locations.

Previous experience in complex development environment: prefer railway domain background (Others like automotive, aerospace…)

Strong engineering and processes background

Good Knowledge of Product management concepts

Good knowledge on SIL applications / software development


Performance Management

Drive the team of Product managers to achieve 

  • Consistency in Product Performance (MTBF, Issue Closing on time (see Quality alert Kx KPi), FPY (First Pass Yield) for make products, Lead Time, OTIF (On Time In Full) vs Target 
  • Product Total Cost (PTC) vs Target (given by Solution) 
  • Obsolescence KPI at Product level (Define obsolescence strategy & preventive action, Close obsolescence alerts in due time) – Note: Obsolescence include also analysis related to specific test equipment used for manufacturing and delivered product to customer.
  • System/product compliance to committed safety requirements
