Purpose of the Job/Objective

 

Is the technical responsible for the CoE  products for which he is in charge of. Manage a team of Mechanical Lead Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and CAD Engineers

 

Organisation Reporting

  • Reports to: Design and development Manager
  • Manages:  - Hierarchical: Interiors Mechanical Lead Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and CAD Engineers

Functional: Product Engineer, Validation & RAMS engineer

 

Network & Links

Internal Interfaces :

   CoE Team : Engineering Group Leader, Costing manager, Industrial Manager, Buyers, SPQD engineer, Bid manager

  

External Interfaces: Suppliers and sub-contractors

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Mechanical Lead Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and CAD Engineers and is continuously developing them
  • Manage the technical relationship with the internal customer
    • Ensure design to cost on technical solutions
    • Manage the relationships with the Train Design Engineer and the Project Engineering Manager
  • Manage the technical relationship with the suppliers
  • Is the technical referential for  interiors

- Participate to the improvement of standards processes, methodologies and tools and organise the Return of Experience for continuous improvement

- Support CoE costing to build cost database

  • Manage the competencies ‘growth of his/her team
  • Standardisation & reuse
  • Design review opened/closed issues
  • GO tooling Quality on-time
  • 3D freeze Quality on-time
  • Documentation OTIF
  • Respect of non-recurrent and recurrent costs target
  • Number of modifications after 3D freeze
  • Spent engineering hours vs. budget on dedicated projects

 

Deliverable Quality

Support DR preparation regarding EDU scopes / Participate to key technical issues solving
Ensure ENGINEERING Design Guideline & Standard Solutions are implemented and contribute to RoE
Validate Final 3D concepts for his/her projects  - RFT 3D Quality
Validate consistency of Contractual deliverables with supplier - RFT TPS / CbC
Validate quality of Engineering Subcontractor  - RFT drawing Quality

 

Standarization

Responsible to deploy within CDS-I Interiors EDU REFERENCE SOLUTION of the EDU - Objectif of Standardisation coverage to be define
Participate to the improvement of interiors REFERENCE SOLUTION  in terms of performance  :
-Cost  / Weight / Method Time integration at Site  / Supplier Manufacturing Lead time  / ENG development Lead Time  - Objective to be define

 

Knowledge & Experience :

  • Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in Interiors in Railway industry
  • Technical knowledge in passenger Saloon Interior fitting (Design & integration) and relative Surrounding Sub systems : HVAC, Doors, Window, Cubicle, Floor, PACIS
    Good knowledge of interiors parts costs
  • Strong Technical Knowledge of Metallic processes (Sheet Metal Work, Alu extrusion, Honeycomb) - Liquid painting - Powder coating - Perceived Quality- Fire & Smoke EN45545
  • Experience in project management within Railway industry
  • Strong knowledge of interiors parts costs
  • Able to demonstrate management of engineering teams
  • Ability to prioritize and to work effectively under pressure to meet the deadline.
  • Able to work in an international, multi-site and matrix organization structure.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills (at least in English).
