Job Title: Bid Technical Manager (Energy Storage Systems)

Alstom India - Engineering – Bangalore

As part of the development of innovative traction systems using energy storage systems, the Alstom Bangalore site is strengthening its ESS department. The Role

ESS Bid Technical Manager represents ESS Engineering group among project core team and his/her mission is to lead Tender Engineering activities in respect of global target cost, tender budget and planning preparing QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) commitment at pre-tender/ tender stage specific to Traction and Auxiliary energy storage systems.

 

Main Responsibilities

Accountability and responsibility include : -

  • Accountable to ensure no degradation between tender QCD and SPR0 QCD for ESS engineering.

  • Manage functionally the engineering team allocated to the tender.

  • Manages the interfaces with Tender core team and ensures engineering internal interfaces.

  • Perform technical exchanges with the customer.

  • Analyse the customer requirements and identify gaps versus reference product.

  • Provide technical documentation for tender submission to customer.

  • Build-up of Engineering proposal - Define best compromise to address the gaps (QCD) (Electrical, Mechanical, Functional Architecture).

  • Identifies technical risks, and ensures they are covered by dedicated action plan agreed by Platform and Metiers.

  • Establish engineering QCD commitment: Master planning, costing, PDO, Risk assessment and management plan.

  • Gets the validation from Site Engineering Director (or Bid technical manager) and Bid Manager on the Engineering assumption pack gathering the Engineering outputs.

  • Ensure the capitalization of feedback on reference solutions or document repositories of the business.

 

Qualification, Knowledge & Experience

  • BTech/ MTech degree in engineering.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in product design, development, project management positions with ability for problem-solving and efficient decision-making in complex environment.

  • Good understanding of Tender process and key players role. Customer oriented approach.

  • Understanding of the needs of customers, responsiveness, autonomy, teamwork and ability to convince will all be qualities necessary for success on the job.

  • Project experience in the advanced chemistry railway/automobile traction and auxiliary batteries would be appreciated.

  • Detailed knowledge of the products architecture, operation and performances.

  • Train operation and maintenance knowledge.

  • Strong knowledge of technical project management and engineering/industrial development cycles (V-cycle, quality reviews, ...) and DFQ sequences

  • Engineering Costing knowledge. Design to cost approach.

  • Good communication and relations. Fluency in English (spoken and written) required for internal and external communications.
