Purpose of the Job:

Lead a team involved in a set of  projects, and lead one project as ATC leader ensuring quality target and repeatable performances. Staff the team and follow-up program/project strategy definition and task execution, delivering as per QCD commitments. Identify, generalize and stabilize best practices, proposing deployment Alstom-wide. Lead continuous team improvement, plan trainings and coach the team, nurture skill growth and capitalization. Stand as reference in your domain, for both your team and your peers.

What are my responsibilities  


  • Agree and implement with the department head and the peer domain leaders the department guidelines (team profile and skills, growth plans, discipline evolutions in terms of technology, competitiveness, …)
  • Develop and maintain Métier / domain competences, coaching the team and growing World Class Engineering Experts
  • Set clear team goals, delegate tasks and set deadlines
  • Provide support to team project/program execution
  • Promote Alstom values to his/her team
  • Continuously motivate, encourage, evaluate and recognize, train and develop resources, in cooperation with HR, as per approved performance evaluation process and targets
  • Deploy ADM Process, Methods and Tools in Project Engineering team, providing feedback for Process reviews
  • Collect REX from execution and innovation opportunities to feed Reference Library where applicable and share outcomes at department level
  • Estimate / Validate activities quotations for tenders and projects
  • Manage adequacy between estimated workload and capacity, taking into account subcontracting & business strategies; report status and issues to department head
  • Commit in Project/Program/Tender QCD related to its Métier/domain

As a Project ATC Leader  responsible to deliver the ATC sub-system solution approved by the customer, respecting the project QCD, during the entire project life cycle. He /She develops ATC system architecture, trackside and trainborne, defining and allocating requirements, evaluating design trade-offs, balancing technical risk, defining and assessing interfaces, keeping close coordination with verification and validation activities and with project deployment activities, in line with the system roadmap.

  • Accountable to deliver ATC QCD commitments.
  • He/she is the direct technical interface with the Customer for ATC Engineering.
  • Provides ATC functional and architecture specification, ATC detailed design and ATC configuration. Provides corrections during and until customer acceptance.
  • Provides Sig – RS (signaling – rolling stock) interface specification, until mutual agreement from both engineering entities.
  • Contribute to the definition of the functional validation phase of the sub-system (I&V and FIVP)
  • Ensure that all Domain / Metier activities follow ATC ADDA process.
  • Support PrEM to ensure full transparency of ATC Engineering WP QCD performance (including physical progress) at all times, in line with standard reporting requirements.
  • Follow the monthly review cycle with PrEM, highlighting main variances against the Project Engineering QCD commitment, initiating corrective actions and immediately informing the PrEM and RC Projects Engineering Domain / Metier DH where major deviations are detected.
  • Follow and participate in Risk and Savings Reviews for his / her scope. Provide inputs to PrEM to update the RAMP and SAMP of the Project.
  • If the ATC  scope changes (due to either internal or external changes), support PrEM in Project Engineering QCD commitment variations with the Project Controller.
  • Make communication with customer and ensure ATC documentation are approved.


What do I need to qualify for this job?


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BE/BTech in Electronics/Electronics and Communication.
  • 8-12 years experience in rail signaling /Automation domain.
  • Experience in ATC systems (trackside and/or trainborne) or alternatively similar complex real time system (avionics, defence), with technical lead role.
  • Engineering background (System engineering knowledge (desirable: signaling system).

  • English (Good verbal and written communication skills).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software engineering (master methods and tools to configure generic ATC software).
  • Rolling stock systems (especially the ones that interface with trainborne ATP like brakes, traction, doors).
  • Basic SW development skills and Expert-level knowledge in Excel.
