Your future role

 Reporting to the cloud and compute delivery director The 3D VDI Service Owner is accountable for the end-to-end availability, performance, and reliability of Alstom’s 3D VDI service (Citrix on Microsoft Azure) used by engineering teams running Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE. This role ensures the service operates flawlessly across a complex, multi-technology stack (Azure, Citrix HDX 3D Pro, Windows 10/11, networking, NetApp storage, GPU virtualization), where any weak link can impact user experience and productivity. 

Key objectives:

• Own the service lifecycle (design, transition, operation, continual improvement) for the 3D VDI service.
• Ensure operational excellence, stable performance, and a high-quality experience for end users (engineers/designers).
• Govern and drive the managed service provider (DXC) operating 24/7, ensuring SLAs, KPIs, and compliance are met.
• Lead incident, problem, change, capacity, and performance management in line with ITIL best practices.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the accountable Service Owner for the 3D VDI service (Citrix on Azure), ensuring end-to-end service quality, resilience, and user satisfaction.
• Define and own SLAs/OLAs, KPIs, and reporting; run regular service reviews with DXC and internal stakeholders (Digital services engineering team).
• Lead major incident response and communication; drive root cause analysis (problem management) and corrective/preventive actions.
• Govern change management for the service (CAB participation, release planning, testing, rollback, documentation).
• Oversee capacity and performance management: GPU sizing and allocation (e.g., NVIDIA GPUs), vCPU/memory, storage IOPS/throughput (NetApp), network latency/jitter; session density and concurrency; image and policy optimization.
• Optimize Citrix HDX 3D Pro configurations, profile management (e.g., FSLogix), and Windows 10/11 tuning for 3D workloads.
• Manage golden image lifecycle, patching, and configuration baseline; ensure compatibility with 3DEXPERIENCE versions, add-ins, and drivers.
• Implement and maintain observability: Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, Citrix Director/Analytics, NetApp tools; define thresholds, alerts, SLOs, and dashboards for user experience and system health.
• Coordinate closely with Network, Storage, Compute, Security, and PLM application teams to maintain end-to-end integrity and performance.
• Govern the MSP (DXC) contract execution: prioritize workload, validate operational runbooks, enforce adherence to SLAs, and escalate with vendors (Microsoft, Citrix, NetApp) when needed.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost optimization on Azure (capacity rightsizing, reservations where applicable, efficient storage tiers), while safeguarding performance for 3D use cases.
• Maintain service documentation: architecture diagrams, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, and service catalog entries.
• Ensure compliance with security policies, vulnerability management, and data protection requirements.
• Contribute to roadmap and lifecycle planning for the 3D VDI service (versions, upgrades, technology refresh), aligned with business priorities.

• Mandatory:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent in information technology
  • Solid communication skills, with the ability to interact with engineering users and cross-functional teams.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in end-user compute/VDI operations and service management.
  • Proven expertise operating and optimizing Citrix VDI environments, ideally with HDX 3D Pro for graphics-intensive workloads.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (compute, storage, networking) and Windows 10/11 enterprise management.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of storage performance (NetApp), network fundamentals (latency, QoS), and GPU virtualization for 3D applications.
  • Track record of governing managed service providers in a 24/7 operational model, including SLA/KPI management and escalation.
  •  

• Desirable:

  • Experience supporting Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE or similar PLM/CAD environments.
  • Familiarity with profile/containerization (e.g., FSLogix), image engineering, and application delivery optimization.
  • Experience with monitoring/observability platforms (Azure Monitor/Log Analytics, Citrix Director/Analytics) and scripting (PowerShell).
  • Exposure to data protection, compliance, and cybersecurity controls in VDI contexts.
