Could you be the Methods engineer at Ballarat, we are looking for?
Alstom are seeking a Methods engineer to join our rolling stock manufacturing site at Ballarat, Victoria to help us produce X'trapolis 2.0 trains for Melbourne!
Your future role:
- Support production team to achieve the manufacturing targets by means of methods deliverables like Work Instructions, tooling, method time analysis, ergonomics study, and problem solving.
- Improve the manufacturing process by means of lean and continuous improvement techniques to reach KPIs related to Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
- Manage and co-ordinate the implementation of special processes on site.
You will be responsible to:
- Develop the necessary industrial deliverables for production: Work instruction sheets, Lift plans, Standard Operating Procedure
- Perform Method time analysis (time study) to reduce NVAs and meet production cost targets.
- Provide industrial support in production by means of technical clarification, problem solving and liaising with the train design team to meet delivery commitments.
- Perform task sequence studies to optimize the balance of the resources on the shop floor.
- Support rework and retrofit activities by means of technical support and field modification instructions.
- Perform continuous improvements in manufacturing processes by lean methodology
- Participate in and conduct work-station audits, and work towards closure of open points.
- Design small template/ tools in CATIA V5 for process improvements.
- Provide tooling inputs and write technical specifications for complex tools-jigs/fixtures.
- Perform ergonomic analysis for the manufacturing operations, derive and follow up on action plans.
- Lead problem solving using 8D and QRQC tools for critical production issues.
- Be a single point of contact and develop as an expert on one of the special processes.
- Define and impart training for assigned special processes to production team members.

- University degree in engineering (preferably in mechanical / production / industrial engineering)
- Three (3) years of experience in methods/ industrial role.
- Good communication skills in English and other required language(s) according to the job location.
- Experience and knowledge of working with 3D CAD software.
- Experience in working with teams across different sites and cultures.
