Your future role:
Alstom is seeking a HR Manager for a permanent position to support various functions at our Ballarat, VIC site operations. Reporting to the HR Business Partnering Lead for the Rolling Stock & Components Product Line, you will be the HR site lead for complex IR/ER matters including but not limited to; supporting the site with shift rosters, supporting enterprise bargaining negotiations and leading site through transformational change. Your role will focus on enhancing workplace culture and equipping leaders, managers, supervisors, and team leaders with essential skills in employment law and corporate governance.
As a HR Manager, you’ll:
- Come with the natural ability to connect well with stakeholders and build trusting relationships
- Be an experienced HR professional who is comfortable supporting Enterprise Bargaining negotiations
- Provide coaching, development, and support to one direct report
- Support and coach managers in performance improvement and performance management discussions
- Lead investigations and resolution of complex IR/ER issues
- Provide ongoing governance training to managers, supervisors, and team leaders on employment law and 'respect at work' to enhance confidence in this area
- Work with key management personnel to improve the cascade of site communication
- Comfortable working with unions
- Offer IR/ER advice, including interpreting legislation, contracts, awards, and policies
- Support site change management and HR projects with IR/ER focus in mind
- Manage inbound and outbound expatriates in collaboration with the mobility team, including visa support
- Perform day-to-day generalist HR activities
- Support the Performance Management Cycle, including reviews, salary adjustments, objective setting, and succession planning
- Assist with Ballarat-related Compensation & Benefits activities
- Provide reporting and data expertise for your area of responsibility to support business justification and positioning
All about you:
- Hold a tertiary degree in a related field
- Possess significant experience in employment/labour law, gained through either HR or ER/IR roles
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation and influencing skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and customers
- Have proven experience and feel comfortable working in a complex industrial environment
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations principles and practices, and their impact on business performance
- Have experience and confidence supporting Enterprise Agreement (EA) negotiations, collaborating closely with employee union delegates and unions
- Demonstrate generalist HR experience covering all areas of HR management practice within a matrix organisational structure
- Comfortable to work in a fast-paced environment that can be ambiguous at times
- Be a proactive subject matter expert (SME) in IR/ER - enthusiastic about culture change
- Able to articulate views and advice clearly to a broad range of individuals
