Product Cost Engineer - Electrical

Purpose of the Job/Objective

- Costing for Global Product Competitiveness

- Generate reference library to cater to needs of market competitively

Position in the Organisation

Organisation Reporting

Hierarchical Reporting: Product Cost Manager

Network & Links

Internal Interfaces: Commodity Managers, Commercial, Reference Library, Operations, Platform, Projects.


Performance Measurement

- Costing of Electrical parts & accessories

- Product Spec optimization and procurement Strategy to meet projects/product target cost


Support localized product Library development:

  • Lead product value engineering ideas working with Engineering, sourcing  &  Industrial teams
  • Develop alternate products Reference library
  • Review Project target costs to validate with Electrical cost Lib
  • Build component cost commitment
  • Build quick costing of electrical components for the project based on proven costing methodologies
  • Validate cost inputs for technical, sourcing, industrial

Job Specifications

Knowledge & Experience:

Candidates must have at least 3+ years of extensive experience in Value Engineering/ Product costing

Recommended skills:

- Highly Technical to challenge product requirements

- Demonstrated proficiency in value engineering principles as applied to products

- Commercial acumen to challenge suppliers & internal teams

- Proficient with office IT

- Highly numerate, literate and articulate

- Experience with product costing for projects

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Focused on delivery of activities within tight deadlines
