The Electronic Technician is responsible for installation, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and systems. Qualified candidates will possess good troubleshooting skills (to component level is most desirable, but not required) and problem solving skills. Experience using Digital Volt Meter, Oscilloscope, Reading Schematics, Hand Tools and Small Power Tools.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and Electro-mechanical assemblies/sub-assemblies and systems
  • Troubleshoot electronics down to the component level to determine cause and remedy of any malfunction
  • Perform required repairs to return unit/system to operational state
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to determine root cause of issue and recommend a corrective action
  • Set up and test Systems, sub-systems and units to meet specified requirements
  • Recognizes failures and set up problems, isolates problems and takes appropriate action to resolve those problems
  • Operate oscilloscopes, generators, meters, power supplies, service monitors and test fixture, and understands their use and function
  • Keeps Supervisor informed of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect production schedules
  • May conduct detailed experimental testing
  • Electronic & mechanical assembly
  • Install components, units and printed circuit boards following specifications
  • Make adjustments or repairs according to written specifications
  • Fabricates parts, cables and test fixtures
  • Maintain and write work procedures and related documentation for each task performed
  • Perform other job duties as required

 

The successful candidate for this position will:

  • Have good verbal and written communications skills
  • Have experience using standard electronic test equipment
  • Be experienced and able to use hand tools and small power tools
  • Be able to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions
  • Have prior education, training & knowledge of basic electronic circuitry and diagnosis 
  • Problem solving skills along with digital, analog and mechanical experience.
  • Ability to multitask is desirable

 

Requirements:

  • An Associate’s Degree or 4 plus years equivalent technical experience and/or military technical training is required.
  • Must possess problem solving skills, strong digital skills, analog skills and the ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner.
  • Familiar with linear and non- linear theory, parallel and series circuits, Ohm's law and other electronic theory.
  • Possess clear, verbal and written communication
  • Must have experience using the following equipment: DVM, oscilloscopes, recorders, hand tools( such as soldering irons, hand crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers).
  • Must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
