Job Purpose:

The Material Planning Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end material planning process for metro projects at Alstom. This includes the planning, procurement, and management of materials to ensure the on-time delivery of components required for the production, assembly, and delivery of metro vehicles. The role involves close collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders, including supply chain, procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams, to ensure material availability and minimize risks related to shortages and delays.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Planning and Coordination:

-Develop and maintain material planning strategies to meet activities schedules for metro projects.

  - Ensure accurate material requirements planning (MRP) and align with projects schedules.

  - Lead the material forecasting process in coordination with project teams to guarantee material availability while minimizing excess inventory.

  - Monitor and control material stock levels, ensuring an optimal balance between supply and demand.

 

Supplier and Stakeholder Collaboration:

  - Work closely with suppliers, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure on-time delivery of materials.

  - Coordinate with engineering and project teams to align material planning with design changes, project timelines, and production schedules.

  - Collaborate with internal teams to resolve material shortages and expedite urgent material deliveries.

 

Risk Management and Issue Resolution:

  - Proactively identify potential material supply issues or bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.

  - Track and manage critical material requirements, ensuring timely procurement and delivery.

  - Support the resolution of supply chain disruptions or delays by working with suppliers and stakeholders.

 

Inventory Management:

- Develop and manage inventory strategies to ensure that material stocks are optimized, reducing the risks of excess or obsolete stock.

  - Monitor inventory levels and adjust strategies to ensure continuous production without overstocking.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  - Drive improvements in material planning processes, using data and analytics to optimize performance.

  - Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices for material management and planning.

  - Participate in the implementation of digital tools or systems for enhancing material planning accuracy and efficiency.

 

Reporting and Analysis:

  - Provide regular updates and reports on material planning, stock levels, and supply chain performance to management.

  - Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, material shortages, and inventory accuracy.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: 

  - Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

 

Experience:

 - At least 5-7 years of experience in material planning, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in the transportation, automotive, or manufacturing industry.

- Strong experience in material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory management, ideally within a multinational environment.

 - Previous experience in managing material flows for complex projects, such as metro or railway vehicle manufacturing, is highly desirable.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

  - Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and material planning tools.

  - Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage supply chain disruptions.

  - Knowledge of logistics, procurement, and inventory management processes.

Additional Information:

Working Conditions: 

  - Full-time position with possible travel to project sites or supplier locations as required.

  - Occasional work outside of regular business hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
