Scope of your responsibilities :
As the Accounting Standards Director managing a team of 2 persons, you define the Alstom’s group accounting policies by following the evolution of the IFRS standards, implementing the new IFRS standards to the Alstom world as well as providing support and solutions to the business on all subjects relating to Accounting policies. You represent the Alstom’s group in all the French business associations (ACTEO, …) where accounting policies are discussed, you are in relation with the Autorité des Marchés Financiers, the French regulation authority for listed companies, and you are one of the key contact of the Group external auditors.

Your responsibilities include:

Guardian of the rules :

Define the accounting rules and guidance applicable to the Alstom group.

Provide the “Reporting and Accounting Manual (RAM)” updates, the Alstom accounting book defining the accounting policies.

Follow the evolution of the accounting standards (IFRS & French) and anticipate their impacts for Alstom.

Prepare and support the deployment of new accounting standards in the Alstom’s group.

Represent Alstom in all the technical French instances such as ACTEO…

 

Business partner (technical support and be solution-oriented) :

Provide position papers on specific accounting treatments, support to Financial Notes for new standards, technical notes, and specific transactions/ disclosures.

Propose to the Vice President Accounting and to the Group CFO the various possible accounting options and their financial impacts on the Group financial statements.

Point of contact with several Departments for accounting complex or non-routine topics: control and consolidation assessment as well as JVs and partnerships, Merger & Acquisitions accounting, Financing (various Financing schemes including factoring), IFRS15 topics at tender phase…

Main point of contact for certain topics: Annual Group valuation for impairment test of Goodwill, Statutory individual valuation for impairment test of shares and transfers, Share-based payments, Earning Per Share…

 

Develop Finance Community :

Contribute to and deliver the internal IFRS trainings in support to Alstom Finance Academy.

Support community networks on accounting topics.

 

Qualifications required for this job :

In this role, you are a leader expected to build effective working relationships across multiple sites, corporate functions and external third parties. You are a result-oriented manager who knows how to influence multiple projects while guiding and providing critical feedback to your team and peers. You are quick in execution while being open to dialogue and listening. 

 

Minimum qualifications in terms of Experience :

Accounting, finance, economics, business administration degree or equivalent combination of training.

At least 10-15 years’ audit experience in an international audit firm or consolidation and accounting standards experience in an international company, preferably listed.

Strong expertise knowledge on IFRS and French accounting standards.

 

Preferred qualifications :

Fluent in English and French.

Verbal and written communication skills (in English) to develop and deliver presentation to company’s executives, position papers to the external auditors, trainings to the Alstom’s Finance community.
