Our Signalling and Infrastructure business is underpinned by the winning of framework contracts for Network Rail’s, with a potential value of £750 million and the large Bristol Area Signalling Renewals and Enhancement project and the Leeds Station Capacity Upgrade Programme.

The Opportunity:

 

This role is based at our Oxley site. 

 

You can join a world leading engineering company where you will work alongside qualified designers at Oxley in Wolverhampton and other Alstom maintenance and engineering facilities. 

 

Over a 3-year program, you will combine academic college studies with real life work-based experience across our organisation. You will be involved in varied engineering projects including covering aspects of design, technical problem solving, maintenance planning, and product reliability growth.  You will have the opportunity to build and gather evidence of your competence whilst working towards a formal qualification.

 

You will be expected to travel to other maintenance facilities within the UK and potentially within Europe in the course of your duties.

 

This role will involve operating CAD using Catia version 5, producing CAD 3D models and manufacturing 2D drawings, working with manufacturers of components and liaising with customers to deliver a quality product to cost, ensuring a high level of quality to specific timescales.

 

You will also get the opportunity to design mechanical installation, be a part of the production of mechanical drawings and models and the investigation and solutions of major technical problems. 

 

Requirements of the role:

 

  • GCSE or equivalent 5 Subjects including Maths, English & Science (Grade 5 to 9) plus 3 'A' levels of minimum Grade C,C,C (or higher) which can include Engineering, Design & Technolody or 90+ credits in a BTEC Engineering Level 3
  • Strong communication, analytical and IT skills
  • Mechanical and Electrical understanding
