Signalling System Engineer

 

The on-board Signaling System Engineer defines, in collaboration with the Supplier, the architecture, the functionalities and the performances of a TC&IS (Train Control and Information System) subsystem in the Signaling area whose main components are ATC (ATP and ATO), Train to Ground Communication and Event Recorder.

 

The Signaling System Engineer ensures the integration into the vehicle of the equipment, from a mechanical, electrical and functional point of view, and the Supplier follow up.

 

He/she operates under the supervision of the TC&IS SE Domain Leader.

He/she collaborates mainly with the TSE (Train System Engineer), TCE (Train Control Engineer), the TEE (Train Electrical Engineer), the train Mechanical Engineers, the SSEs (Sub-System Engineers), the TC&IS team, the RAMS Engineer, Testing and Commissioning and the Validation Engineer.

 

The Signaling System Engineer is accountable for delivering the subsystem documentation: RSAD (Requirement Specification and Architecture Description), TPS (Technical Purchase Specification), ICD (Interface Control Document). He/she collaborates with the Supplier for data preparation and supports static and dynamic tests.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Defining and implementing the functional, performance, transverse and train level requirements for the system
  • Integrating the system into the train, mechanically and electrically
  • Defining the mechanical and electrical interfaces for the system
  • Verifying the system focusing on train level, including Design Reviews
  • Change and configuration management process for the system
  • Control of implementation after design changes, including impact analysis
  • Planning and follow up of all activities linked to the system
  • Support sourcing, suppliers, PUs (Participating Units), S&A (Schematics and Apparatus) Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, RAMS engineers, and Validation Engineers
  • Providing inputs to the engineering team, to sourcing and to internal and external suppliers

 

Knowledge & Experience:

 

Either junior engineer: in this case no specific experience is needed since he/she will be guided by a senior

Or experienced engineer: 3-year experience in Signaling area in the rail business

Understanding of the system engineering process

Mastering of system engineering methodologies

Fluent English
