Employing 6,000 people across the UK and Ireland, we design, build and test trains at the UK’s largest end-to-end train manufacturing factory in Derby and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, as well as 30 train services depots across the UK&I.

 

Your future role

 

Take on a new challenge and apply your electrical systems knowledge as a technical team member in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to Train manager and work alongside our active and highly resourceful colleagues.

 

You’ll be able to demonstrate your unique attributes and skills. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, carry out testing and commissioning activities on dart+ trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures and much more.

 

You’ll specifically take care of all static and dynamic testing and warranty issues.

We’ll look to you to:

 

  • Develop and increase knowledge of all Dart+ train functions and sub-systems.
  • Troubleshooting of all warranty defects and provide technical assistance on TSSSA contract.
  • Establishment of new wiring and modifications
  • Upload software and downloads to carry out critical asset repairs and upgrades.
  • Apply special processes as crimping and torque tightening.
  • Functionally test train borne systems with minimal supervision using a variety of techniques and methods, including the use of computer-based diagnostics systems.
  • Review and rectify test specifications and documentation for functional tests.

  • Qualified Electrician FETAC level 6 National craft certificate (NCC) or equivalent qualification     
  • Strong previous experience in similar roles.
  • Ability to read detailed electrical drawings and cable schedules.
  • Ability to fault find/diagnose issues on installations while testing.
  • Experience of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics.
  • Experience of working within a process/production environment.
  • Working knowledge of quality and health and safety standards and systems preferable

 

Successful Candidates will be expected to attend training in Poland, fully expensed for approx. 40-60 days.
