Your future role

 

As a Group Leader you will align and support the production teams to enable them to perform in accordance with overall goals and targets, especially in terms of safety, productivity, quality and cost. You will ensure standardised work and engage open bi-directional communication, team empowerment and best practice sharing across teams.

 

You will also have personnel and disciplinary responsibility, establish regular information and communication frameworks. You will act as a role model for team members of up to 25; support the teams personally or by involving the right support personnel, so that the teams perform to their targets. You will also focus on EHS and Kaizen, monitor and improve problem solving and escalation processes and understand Takt Time and Cycle Time

 

We’ll look to you for:

 

  • Issuing risk assessments on activities occurring within his/her sector.
  • Ensuring that the prevention of accidents and injuries is integrated into all aspects of the occupational environment, and into every work activity.
  • To control safety standards providing detailed action plans for safety improvements.
  • Has a clear understanding and ownership of the critical risks identified within the business.
  • Maintains quality control within company quality and contractual guidelines. Evaluates and improves methods on a continuing basis. 
  • Supports problem resolution process with manufacturing and with the support functions.
  • Provide detailed daily and/or weekly reports regarding production problems, shortages, hours, etc.
  • Assigns work teams to maximize production within budget guidelines for consumables and labour hours; sets daily production priorities.
  • Anticipates needs for parts/materials/tools and follows up to ensure availability when required. 
  • Liaises regularly with upstream and downstream workstations, Methods, Engineering and other departments, to ensure coordination of tasks/activities.
  • Validates with Planning appropriate production sequence and manpower for tasks required in the work area. Initiates manpower requisition.
  • Promote training for improving /increasing skills within his/her team. Identify and develop rotational plans and self automated teams.
  • Maintains discipline and directs work force in a manner consistent with company policies. 
  • Encourages team work and empowerment of production employees. Measures performance.

  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment at a managerial role.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, documents, IT-systems.
  • Knowledge of EHS, Takt Time and Cycle Time, Kaizen, Material flow processes, Andon.
  • Experience in manufacturing and quality processes and understanding of interfacing functions in the project. Shop floor management tools and methods, Value stream analysis. PFMEA’s.
  • Recommended experience in Quality and Methods or Production Control.
  • Labour relations and shop floor management.
  • Knowledge of value stream analysis.
